ya it all depend i like to play both intell i get the fill off the table its easy to get a read on people well its live but online it takes a lil bit longer but you never wanna let out your secret how you are playing thats for sure but i play tight in the biggining and if i am on a rush i will start to loosen up a lil bit.

i dont think any one style is 'correct' over the others... you should stick to what you feel comes naturally to you. that being said, as you gain more experience, you'll learn how/when to switch gears depending on table status, overall tourney status, etc. personally, i'd describe myself as a 'hybrid' semi-conservative.

re: which way to play poker is better? Play what the table isn't. You should usually play tight if you are playing at home or online (low-limits) because most of the players are loose. If you are playing against rocks (supertight players), play more aggressively than you normally would. Generally, a good strategy is to play the opposite of what the table is doing.

re: which way to play poker is better? A good player knows that both styles are neccessary. Some players will lean one way of the other. But, will adjust to conditions which is important. You can probably make it into the money playing tight and conservative. But, when you hit that final table. You have to take off the gloves and start throwing some punches or 1st will be something the other players get and you don't

Be conservative and aggressive, simultaneously Be conservative with your starting hand selection. When you do find two cards that you want to play be aggressive all the way through. It's war out there man! Chips are like soldiers. Choose the battles carefully, and then send as many soldiers as you can. Send reinforcements at every opportunity. Be a wise general and watch closely for signs that you need to retreat. Bill

The ability to open up your game and change gears during play is essential and sperates good poker players and great poker players. A good player is disciplined and sticks with a particular modus operandi. A great player will change up his play sporradically in order to keep his competition in a constant state of query. A player that is constantly playing only premium hands will be pegged as such rather quickly at a table and will limit the action he receives because when he does finally play a hand, he is automatically placed on a big hand forcing out people that might have called another player while they hold suited connectors or low to middle pairs. Nick asked me to write some articles for posting here on CC, and the first topic I chose was this very subject. He emailed me this morning and said he would have them up sometime today. I will post the link in this thread when he notifies me that they're up so that anyone interested can read them.
