Was watching a pokerstars tournament replay with Dariominieri...
I didn't watch the whole thing but while I was watching I noticed Dariominieri, a very successful online player, ocassionally would make a preflop reraise bluff against an initial raiser with garbage. He did it quite often actually, I didn't see the other players doing it at all really. He is usually on the button or one off the button and he comes over the top with Q 3 or 10 7. Usually the play worked, I only saw him do this against a big hand, AA, once but backed down after the aces put in a third raise. I also noticed that when it's folded to him and he's in late position he folds decent hands like A-X or J 10. And once in the BB he only called a raise preflop with JJ he didn't reraise, and played it passively postflop. Is this is a good strategy to do often in a tournament? Or do you think he had some godly reads that enabled him to make these plays? Here's the link if you want to watch the replay for yourself. Just scroll to the button and its there.

As for him folding hands in late position like J10 or Ax is those arent really strong hands, per se. A lot of hands can still beat him and even if he hits, he still has to tread carefully. As for the JJ he didnt have position over his opponents. Dario's strength comes from him being able to put pressure on the opponent and he really cant do that when he is OoP. Also, by playing passively here against an opponent who is showing strength is a great way to disguise your hand. If you flop a set, you might expect a lot of action from the opponent. |

Yea I was watching him over at WSOP 2007, he's very aggressive but that only lead to his demise after he had the chip lead. That strategy works out pretty well in tournaments, at least for me it does for the most part. Just be sure you aren't too aggressive and loose your chips by trying to steal blinds and raises.
