Two over cards, flop comes out low.

Let's say I limp into a hand with Q10 spades, and I'm next to the button (I already have half of the blind in before I can decide whether to put the whole blind in).

4 other players call, and I have the highest chip stack (4k). This is a sitngo, and the blinds are 120 (each player starts with 1.5k in a 9 person sitngo).

The flop comes out 7 6 9, all of different suits.

The pot is 420.

Should I bet? I'm on the button.

I would just check. You're out of position, and with 5 others in (assuming the BB checked preflop), it's extremely unlikely that none of them caught a piece of that flop. Also, if they didn't catch, they're probably thinking along the same lines. You don't want to bluff into a pot of 5 people. Finally, you have a straight draw. Might as well try and see a free card to see if you can hit.

Agreed, see a free card. But if your in the SB fold to any action that gets scary.

First I would research what position is. Basic terms may help a lot too. Here are a few to get you started:

SB (small Blind) -- first position after the button. Acts first on every round after pre-flop betting
BB (big Blind) -- second position after the button

UTG (under the gun) to the left of BB, first to act pre-flop

Cutoff -- first position to the right of the dealer.

Button -- the dealer -- the last to act after on every round after pre-flop betting --- best position to have.

Position is everything. The later you act the more information you have. The more people there are to act after you the stronger your hand is going to have to be.

I agree with KardKlub and silverslugger33. Check and see a cheap turn.

CHECK and see the turn, even if you hit your 1 of your over cards it might give someone else a flush draw. There will be better situations to make $$$ this is not 1 of them

Not a lot of info... how has the table been playing... safe play is a check (fold to any bet) But you could lead out and try to steal the pot if the table has been pretty passive. (Then again with a 420 pot .. you might just want to sit back and have a smoke ..

( Value ) betting 280 in this situation would thin out the field. The idea here is to either take the pot down right then and there or go into the turn in a heads up situation. Your 2 overs with an inside straight better your chances of taking this. If indeed a brick hits, you may bet 60% of the pot to scoop the rest.
