Turbo Poker, Luck or what? I've been playing online now for sometime and each and every time i play a turbo tourney, either the blinds eat me up or great quality starting hands flop second best everytime. Are these types of tourney's just luck or are their a set of basic strategies that i should (or everyone for that matter) be using? I think i've tried just about every different approach i could think of, is there any hope?

Generally the slower a tournament's structure the more poker 'skill' it takes to win. However, with turbos it could be argued that it is just a different skill-- specifically, an understanding of "Independent Chip Modeling (ICM)". Basically, as you are very quickly into situations where your decision is 'fold or shove' in a turbo, understanding the shove range better than your opponents is the key to success.

I started out playing the 9 player turbos and was quite successful but then it started to be a pain everytime I would just be blinded down because of no cards. I like the regular non-turbos, and I am more of a MTT type person anyways... as for luck in turbos, i think you have to be more lucky in those than you have to be in regular sit and goes but its not ALL luck
