trap bet
I have noticed people will often make a mini bet after the flop if
a high pair or 3 flush is shown. I have found that faking the trap minibet. will take down a lot of small pots with a minimum investment. thoughts? |

Seems folks with j in their online handles like that bet, and those with a v don't.
Not wise first to act in a multiway pot, but last to act its a no brainer, except you have be ready for the occasional check raise comeback by the guy who has the trips. I have sort of given up the minbet in early position action after a paired flop. Instead I will 2x or 3x in an attempt to steal it. Obviously not early in a tourney or game, and not with a weak chipstack. |

faking the trap minibet ? what do you do on the turn ? bigger bet ,trap set bet? i think the real trap is the guy not faking it and ckecking to you so you can fake minibet, then coming over the top of you on turn. ive had some hit the turn and forget they may be betting or calling into a fullhouse or nut flush and follow to the river.

I'll minbet every once in awhile when I know that my hand is far and away much better than everyone else playing, especially in an aggressive game where I know someone else is going to bet into it. It's like a bet-bet-raise if it works out well enough.

Min bets can be effective in some situations because they look like you want a call, and can actually be more intimidating than a larger bet. They should only be used in situations where the board doesnt seem like it can allow someone to draw to a hand very easily..

it works well when you know your players and how they will react. i've seen one guy who plays w/us often do that pretty regularly and everyone folds. i'm quite sure he doesn't usually have it...odds would say he doesn't. but everyone is intimidated, so they fold, he wins. he just knows his opponents well.
