Transition from mtt and sng to cash games. Hey everyone, When i first started playing online i would only play mtt and sng. make a long story short i figured out very quickly what variance met. i didnt know a thing about brm or anything. i have deposited about 80 dollars in a few months and was all the way down to 10. I have been getting better and after reading up alot on BRM i decided i was only gonna play micro nlhe. Well after 2 days of 3 sessions around 50 to 60 hands per session i am happy to say i have made i nice profit of 4.01. no i know thats not alot but at a 01/02 table im very happy. i dont buy in for the full amout of 5.00 what i like to do is have around 100 times the bb when i sit down. I have felt some variance such as my trip jacks with ace kicker get sucked out on the river by some one who called my 4x the bb raise with j4. but hey thats part of the game. The original reason for this post is to get your guys opinion if 4 dollars is a nice profit or should i play some longer sessions and any other advice you have. Once again thanks cards chat community alot of these threads have greatly improved my game.

I really don't want to sound mean but a profit is a profit man. If you're BR is down to 10 bucks and you won 4 bucks...that's a pretty good return. Never feel bad about where you're playing and how seemingly little your cash is...as you grow in BR and as a player..it will grow. Something I've been doing is a cash game and a sng at the same time. I can usually double up on the cash game so my SNG is pretty much paid for

re: Transition from mtt and sng to cash games. poker Lol, 2 days of 3 sessions around 50-60 hands per session, eh? :P That's little over 300 hands. That's pretty much nothing, in terms of volume. Your winrate is 66bb/100 though, over this trial. About 33BB/100 (bb = Big Blinds; BB = Big Bets [2BB]). A good winrate in the micros is between 5 and 10 bb/100, or 2.5 and 5 BB/100. PT3 uses BB/100, HEM uses bb/100, so if you use either of these, be sure to take note of which stat they're using. If you want to be a serious cash game player, I'd say you need to be playing at least 1k hands per day. I imagine you're still learning though, so that's fine. You should have $40 in your account as a bankroll in order to start 2NL, but I don't mind just having a few buy-ins if you can just re-deposit, since 2NL is the first level. It means if you win then it's going to take longer to get to 5NL ($100+ BR) which is a good thing because it gives you more time to learn, and means you spend less money depositing. Anyway, wish you luck and everything, if you're using tracking software then be sure to post hands in the Hand Analysis forum when you get in spots you're not so sure about, and keep reading and learning. If you want to talk or maybe even sweat or something, my MSN and Skype handles are in my profile. I've beat all levels up to 50NL and am currently building up my BR to take on 100NL, so I could probably help you out. Good luck on the felt!

Thanks everyone for all the advice. i know i need to play 1k plus hands a day but i have a full time job with the army so i dont get alot of time to play all the time. Any how i can see how it would be much better to play more hands as it seems in the micros people will shove all in when you have the nuts. thanks guys and when i get in some hard spots with hands ill make sure to post them and tell me what you guys think.
