Tourney Play
Hey guys, I'm in a 10+1 tourney on PS. I have played 25% of my hands thus far and have showed down all but two hands that were solid hands. I don't have HEM on this computer or else I would give you more stats on me and the others. But my question is this: they are folding to my raises almost automatically now. So, do I mix it up, or just keep on playing how I am playing. We are only to the 125/250 25 ante blind stage wiht hundreds before the money. TAG the way to go?
Thanks for you help. This has always confused me, not just at the moment. Timi |

Really need some Stats but are you are the Advantage chip stake are a little bit below?
But the sounds of things if you have only played 2 hands. Maybe your playing a little too tight. Use your position. Later in the tourney start to losen up a little bit and try stealing a few blinds but be aware if you table image is being very tight aggressive some people may notice this. When you hit near the bubble tighten up again so you do hit the bubble. But stick playing tight and aggressive and use your position! |

Continue to be aggresive! In tournaments, it is SOO important to win hands without a showdown, so the more steals you get away with, the better. Keep raising, but keep yourself in line. This will also help when you have a big hand and someone plays back at you. Dont raise every other hand just because they keep folding, cause someone will wake up with a hand sooner or later, but raise enough times to where you can chip up w/o resistance.

sounds like they are giving respect to your play wwith raises, but dont get into a habit of raising with junk. You might get too involved in the hand. But once in a while you may want to make a raise or limp with some junk cards to see what kind of flop you get, maybe play it to the river sometime if it dont cost you much. If your table sees you play junk now and then, you may get some action on one of your premium hands, and win a good size pot

Steal more in late position if they are giving your raises too much respect. I don't get how that is true as well as that you have showed down all your strong hands though. Basically, you should be as LAG in the middle stages of the tournament as you can, especially with a big stack. Steal them blinds and get comfortable so that you can go deep. Making the money is so unimportant moneywise compared to getting a FT or a win.

Playing more hands in smaller pots is how many top professionals consistently build large stacks in tournament poker. They just won't gamble for large sums before the flop. Instead, they'll simply enter more pots than the average player, and play more carefully when they do. In tournament poker, don't be afraid to gamble a little bit; there's nothing wrong about being an active player. But make certain to maintain discipline and only play bigger pots on your own terms.

re: Tourney Play poker
I would say keep raising them. If they are giving you too much respect than that is bad poker by them. Anyway, if they catch you in a steal attempt or a semi-bluff, that might just buy you some action later when they don't respect you anymore. My favorite play is when I lose a small pot in a showdown when I was bluffing, and then the next hand I get a great starting hand, don't get any respect and flop two pair or a set.
