Play some music in the background or play 2 tournaments at the same time. both have their advantages/disadvantages but they work if you are impatient

Get up and play from a standing position for a while. Walk around. Click on your autofold option and go outside for some fresh air. Do some stretching. Grab a caffienated beverage. Turn up the music. Wet a cold rag and wipe the back of your neck.

Ok, this may sound a little unorthodox but here goes. Lately I've been having a modicum of success playing 2 freerolls at once. I guess it forces me to play a more disciplined game. I can't waste any time getting fancy or trying to figure out the intention of the other players. If it isn't playable It gets folded. This is probably the worst advice your gonna get on this thread and I will deny I ever said it.

Sorry RJ, I didn't mean to make a quote of your post.

Hi The Jackle - I used to do the same thing. When I first started, after about 1.5 hours, I would start fading. I'd play hand that I shouldn't, call big bets I shouldn't, and go all in when I shouldn't. I'd go out of tourney around 50 because of boredom or distraction. But now I make sure I concentrate on the game and I've improved greatly - I've even started to win some money!

I agree about the 2 tourney idea. Then you get in the habit of throwing away mediocre hands.

You forgot the most important piece of advice: "Keep your eye on the prize!"

RammerJammer, I just wanted to let you know that I love reading your posts; always good, sound advice! (And so eloquently put, as well! lol)

I also play 2 tournaments at the same time (I have 3 computers on my desk), so I usually play 2 tournaments or a cheap ring game and a tournament. It keeps me busy I get bored and play stupid when I just play one. I sometimes watch a movie that I have seen a zillion times, that way I know what is going to happen and it doesn't distract me from my game, if I watch a new movie or show, I end up wanting to watch it and usually play real stupid.

Good Luck,

i believe what gets you after a couple of hours of playing in a tourney is you start feeling the need to get your chip stack built up. You see all these people with around 5 times as many chips as you sometimes and something clicks inside that says "ahhhh hurry up your falling behind". Just have to remember patience patience patience. Also doesnt hurt to keep a strees ball on hand to squeeze lol
