Top pair, kicker paired, flush draw versus 2 all in - do I call? Just had an interesting hand at 1/2 NL I had As 8s, board came down Ad 9s 4s. 1st oppo bet pot, 2nd called,me on button call Turn came 8h 1st oppo bet pot, and just when I was going to reraise all in, 2nd oppo beat me to it and went all in. Pot now about $200, with $120 to call and me in a sandwich!! I actually folded, as did player 1, but was wondering if I had done the right thing? Having just written this out, I think maybe not!! But grateful for advice

hmm I would guess you were probably up against trips. Its hard to say without knowing the action preflop but if there was limping or a minraise before the flop I would say trips. In which case its a good fold for you. Although it was a cash game and you could always buy back in, that would kinda make me wanna see the hand played out. But gut instinct would point towards trips based on that flop.

my advice is when you see a player like this on the table...... cash out and buy in again with less money you have a nut flush draw and almost a nut full house draw he could have a set..... or maybe 2S and 3S!! he doesn't even realize he's drawing to only a 3 outer (which would be a 5blank) but you'll never find out until you call him! so come back with lesser chips......then at least you'll know how he plays should u have folded?? we'll never know....cause we never saw the river Me personally, i would see what position he was in, meaning did he have BB or SB or did he open with it. that'll help me figure out what he's playing with from your posting....if he opened with it....I put him on something like 89 and not a set or AQ or A9.....

It's kinda hard to know what to put them on without knowing the preflop betting. Was there a raise preflop? If so then you might be up against big slick or AQ. If not then you could be seeing trips or even another A 8 or A 9,seeing a lower card than his 9 fall. Be interesting if you could post the entire hand with amounts bet.

Them having pocket 88's would have meant that you had the case 8. also with the aces, not likley you having the case ace. Well giving your outs in the hand ,2 pair on 4th street with nut flush draw,I probably would have called just buy the way they were betting. I am thinking If not a set maybe ace king or something. Hell maybe even a weaker flush draw. |

with the turn giving you two pair, I would call here. I think you are ahead here either to a hand like AQ if he raised preflop, or maybe a K high flush draw who is essentially drawing dead. I don't think he has the set as even though people like to slow play sets, you don't want to do this with a 4 flush on the flop. Same thing with A9, he would have pushed more because of the flush draw fear. That being said, 88 should be the only hand you are losing to and like someone else said, that would be the case 8. Chances are you are good. I call. If you could post the preflop action and after you get some more opinions I would be curious to know the hand result, unless it was folded to and he mucked.
