| Too tight? Been stepping up into bigger online rooms ($100) with ZERO to negative results. Im a noob at that level so Im playing tight. Pretty much just hte Dirty Dozen Pocket pairs AA -77 AK (suited or unsuited0 AQ (suited or unsuited) AJ suited A 10 suited Im pretty much getting blinded away and not getting called when I do have a hand. Im not raising big pre flop. Though even when I do people are still playing trash hand. 3Xs the BB with AKs I lose to 85 who gets a 8 on the flop and river. I did a continuation bet on the flop and caught my K on the turn and bet 1/2 the pot. Cut off, UTG I will play a few loser hands. I was doing really well in the $25 rooms now Im stagnant. Should I losen up or grind it out? |

| Yea you need to loosen up, mix up your play somewhat. If someone is 5% vp$ip, (a) you'll get no action and (b) if you min raise, you'll price in junk hands in position and in the blinds because of implied odds. If I'm in a position where everyone always folds when I raise, then I'll start raising every other hand with anything. I'll also donk off a portion of my stack on purpose just to show down absolute trash so people start to think I'm an idiot. Thats only the case though if I'm planning on staying at the table a while. People at this level most likely have something like pokertracker which will keep track of your stats. Skew these stats by limping in with suited cards, connectors etc at times. Same with the small blind, thats a cheap way to skew VP$IP. If you want to continue playing super tight, switch tables constantly so people can't get reads on you. Basically if you play like a total rock, you may as well be playing with your cards face up. If you are only in 1 hand out of every 25, I sure as heck have a real good idea of your range of hands. |
