Time for a break
Been my bad run finally ended a while ago after running bad for a few months (finally started to win a few coinflips!). But still I'm not running great, just average I guess and I think I'm playing scared and worried about getting drawn out all the time or being up against a set. And it's not fun anymore it just feels like a job and gets frustrating sometimes. So I'm gonna take a lengthy break and see how things go when I start playing again.

Ben, playing scared is no fun at all. If you feel frustrated then a break maybe for the best. If you think you are just running bad, sometimes there not a lot you can do other than scale back a little. If you have a leak in your game though it may be best to try to sort it out. Post some Poker Tracker stats or if you have a specific problem post it up.

Be sure to continue studying the game during the break, and continue trying to become a better play. If you take a break and not continue studying the game, then you will not have made any progress in your journey to be the best player that you can be.

I think I'm gonna take at least 3 full weeks off and I'm not even going to think about poker during this time so I'm not gonna read any books. Besides, it seems like I had a good understanding of the game before I was a member of cardschat or before I read HoH and theory of poker, I was definetly playing a lot more profitably a few months ago.

Taking a break and not attempting to improve your game will be a massive mistake imo. You will be the same player coming back as you were leaving. You will continue to make (or lose) money the way you did before, and from my understanding of your original post, you would like to change. |

Intelligent decision. When we get to a point where we EXPECT ridiculous plays to succeed against us, let alone FEAR them...it's time to get away for a while.
From time to time I give it a rest for a few weeks, or a few months. When I return, I usually feel the fun again. You'll feel refreshed upon your return. Enjoy yourself. |

I went throguht the same thing mate. However, I could not put the cards down
If you play mainly NLHE for example, try changing game for a while. It worked for me. However, good luck withwhatever decision you make. ![]() |
