| Tight Aggressive Books hey guys I was wondering if there is any really good books that explain how to play a tight aggressive way? I read Harrington , i`m playing pretty tight now but sometimes i lack aggressivness . I was wondering maybe if i read something that shows me the game from another perspective(aggressive play) i will stop being so tight sometimes... |

| Vorhaus' Killer Poker is primarily focused on teaching aggression. |

"Some" reviews couldn't be more wrong. The book is excellent, imo, especially for what you are looking for. |

But it depends on what you are playing also as in Limit or NL... Limit it's best to play tight and in position until you figure out the table and then you can adjust... In NL it's important to play tight when the blinds are small and then venture out and broaden your play when the blinds get larger... Some say however to devote a third of your stack early in the tourney and build up... That's not a bad idea if you have monsters to start or can maybe get in cheap with some drawable hands... Personally I think Vorhaus is a comedy writer and good but with his aggression advice presumes everyone is going to roll over to you... Harrington plays way too tight but offers some good advice for the end game... Try Doyle as he has many writers who have contributed to his system so it's pretty much All-Star... Lee Jones isn't bad but it's geared pretty much for beginners and teaches the basics and foundations... BARRY TANENBAUM has a good book out now on Limit Poker but contains a few flaws... Available at Pokerstars for 2000 FPP... I guess if one had a Bible on poker and carried it around it would be "The Theory of Poker" as you can't go wrong there... But personally and common sense dictates in poker if it isn't worth a bet it isn't worth a call... |

| thanks guys.. i`m thinking of getting that killer poker book, what i want to learn is the aggressive psychology play, because after Harrington my mentality became to play very tight and sometimes its hard for me to change the play since im pretty much a beginner player. I know some people say to play tight and just pick your spots and steal since most of the players who watch you will realize that you come in with strong hands only, but this does not work in freerolls since there is so many players who dont really watch other and just play hyper aggressive.. So was thinking to change my style of play for freerolls to the aggressive one but i dont know much about it. I`m interested in the style of Gus Hansen, Phil Ivey type... |

| I'm rated as a rock at present. This means I'm very quiet at the table and when i play give my hand away too easily as people know when i become aggressive i have something. Trying to become more aggressive is a very painful process. I went from winning at the lower blinds tables to losing regularly for a while. But if winning more at the higher levels means playing Tight / Aggressive / Aggressive then I must follow through. Being aggressive means raising pre-flop and following through with a continuation bet post-flop.Even sometimes when you know you are behind. As a cautious player that is difficult for me. My game is beginning to improve though and my bank is only 20% below what it was when i changed style back from the 65% minus it sank too when i began the change. Super System, Doyle Brunson is how I'm remodeling my style but be prepared to suffer some pain before you make any gains. |

| re: Tight Aggressive Books poker I was wondering if anybody already posted a thread that lists books based on the type of play they teach. TAG, LAG, HAG.. I think i`m also interested in LAG and HAG just to see what is their thinking like, maybe this will help me analyze their plays better if i know what they are doing and why.. So any other good books that explain TAG - Killer Poker LAG HAG ? |

I think it is safe to say that Doyle plays however the situation demands. I have seen him play both TAG and LAG in tournaments. I have never seen him play any way other than TAG in cash games. For tournament players, being either TAG or LAG is a weakness. The ability to do both is a necessity. With regards to classification of books: In my experience most books teach multiple methods. With sections covering different types of games, most types of play are covered somewhere. |

| Nevada - Vorhaus has written a lof of "Killer" Books I believe "Killer Poker" was the first in the series. the is also "Killer Poker no limit", "Killer poker by the numbers", etc. I think AG meant the first one, "Killer Poker". He has it listed in the Golden Archives at least. The only one he has recommended that I haven't picked up yet. |

| Im not sure about books about specific playing styles but I know that THe Theory of Poker by David Sklansky greatly improved my game. I think it is a must read for any player that wants to play somewhat seriously as it covers all the concepts crucial to becoming a solid player. The book doesn't tell you what to do in certain situations, but it tells you what you should be thinking about in these situations. Just my $.02 |
