For those about to Tilt....

ok, it happens to someone everytime you sit down at a table, and more than likely to you at some point a tourny. How you handle yourself in these situations will often determine your fate. I don't know how many times I've seen a chip leader lose on a bad beat, and then be out within 10 hands. What I am about to say will probably shock you at first, but stick with me... Ok, here we go... We can all learn from phil hellmuth when it comes to handling tilt. WHAT!!!???? You may be screaming at your screen saying wtf is that guy smoking? The truth is, although he doesn't handle himself emotionally as well as he could, when he loses it he tightens up drastically. This is a good strategy, as it limits your losses, and allows you to gather your thoughts a bit. When I catch myself in that state, I often will just fold whatever comes my way short of QQ+, or if I'm on the comp click autofold, just to give myself some time to breathe. Run to the kitchen and grab a cold one. In that short time you can often times get yourself back on track and focusing on this hand, rather than your AA busted by a 772 flop 3 hands ago and your rapidly descending chip count. If that fails, run back to the fridge, grab an 18 pack, down 'em all, and I guarantee you will play better drunk than you would playing aggressively on tilt.

Good suggestion..... I usually explain to the no good suck out about his family genetics, history, how the air he breathes was actually meant for a human being or that his girlfriend is really a man he just has never gotten far enough to find out the truth! Which actually makes me feel much better and I am fine within a hand or 2. The only problem with this is the really bad pplayers tend to leave from my verbal abuse. Oh well it keeps me from breaking shit so I can live with them leaving on occassion

Man, thats scary 007!!!! jjk man. the only problem I see with that is that in the long run, the bad players pay off nicely, and you want them to stick around. Therefore I try and be the "Daniel N." of the group in ring games, and do what your saying in tournies w/ weaker players that seem to be on tilt themselves. Make them want nothing more than to knock me out, and show me whos boss. lol.
