Many thanks to this forum and the all the contributors. I have only been reading it for a couple of months, but I have picked up many strategy tips that have helped my understanding of the game. Here are a few key ones that have really help me:
1) Bankroll guidelines. I was playing only 5-10x the BB. After reading the many posts here on this topic, I realised I was under bankrolled and playing 'scared'. I dropped down the limits and find it more enjoyable - I am now not afraid to get the money in when I feel I have the best of it. And if I get it wrong, or someone lays a bad beat - oh well, no biggie.
2) The way ahead/way behind concept explained in a few threads - checking can sometimes be the best option to see more cards and to test whether you have the best hand.
3) Betting when draws are on the the board. In the past, if there was an obvious draw on the board I would bet big trying to drive people out of the pot 9 (i.e. trying not to lose). However, the better way of looking at this is placing the bet hoping that they will call. If you are leading, the
odds are usually in your favour and against them making the draw - you are making them pay for the draw. I found that this shift in perception in why I'm putting the bet out there helps my game.
So, thanks again, keep those posts and ideas coming....
