| Tell me you winning holdem strategies. I am interested in finding out what your playing strategy for online Holdem is and at what level you use this strategy. I am only interested in those who have a strategy that is profitable and I am also interested in how profitable that strategy it is for you? Do you small ball? Do you Hit and Run. Are you a heavy hitter? Do you table select and if so what is your criteria? etc... |

| This whole forum is devoted to different poker strategies, and that is a really vague question. I play PokerStars Double or Nothing tournaments - most people here seem to be bored by them, but I feel safe there. |

I understand that this forum section is devoted to strategies but most of what I am reading is regarding individual situations not overall strategies. I am not looking for situational advice. I am interested in what your overall strategy is if you have one or three or more and what works best for you? |

| re: Tell me you winning holdem strategies. poker Y'know that is a good question. Its hard to put a strategy in a nutshell, people write books about this stuff, but I'll have a go. This applies to my current game, no-limit holdem, full ring $10NL and $25NL. Flexibility is key. Aggressiveness is key. Position is key. Observation of opponents is key. Poker is not just a game of cards. It’s a game of situations. A situation is a number of things: your cards, your position, your stack, your opponents, your opponents stack and your opponent’s position. Your cards are only one element of a situation. Tight tables I'll be looking to play loose aggressive, trying to pick up uncontested pots, and trying to portray the image of someone a slightly crazy. After a while the tightwads come after you and then you tighten up a bit and aim for good solid hands. Loose tables I'll play tight aggressive, and wait for really good situations prior to committing my money. Pre-flop, first in the pot, I'll looking to be the raiser. I'll only call raises with pocket pairs, AK, or connecters if a multi-way pot. Other than that I'm generally not cold calling, especially with trouble hands like KJ, AJ etc. Post-flop, I'm generally aiming to bet and raise with position to see how I stand. Out of position is more tricky, and all depends on the situation. I'm generally looking to adhere to a small hand small pot, big hand big pot philosophy, I'll try to control the pot size with a small hand as best I can. I define Pairs and Two-Pairs are small hands. Sets and above are big hands, but even then it is relative. A set on a straight or flush board is a mediocre hand. And...try not to make mistakes. Of course there is lots more detail, but in a nutshell, that is my strategy. Is it successful? I'm a winning player, so there must be something to it. How about others, I challenge you to lay bare your strategy in 300 words or less. |

This is like asking what is the meaning of life!!! That's what the forum is all about, there is no "One great strategy." Hitting and running is a loosing strategy. Heavy hitter, I don't even know what that is. So I'll answer the only question I can. I would say all profitable players selects the best table at the time for a session. the first thing I look at is the number of people that see the flop% I want this in the 30% or higher. The higher the better. Then I want a deep table. I want stacks around the max buyin, a stack or two a buyin up is ok too. I don't want a bunch of short stackers. In fact, if there are more than two short stackers, I wont sit at the table. Why? All they do is sit there and wait to push AIPF, I don't want to sit at a table and coinflip all day long. Also, thier stack is so small it's almost not even worth flipping for. So it's best to play on tables that are deep stacked. I've noticed with a flop % is really high, there are a lot of limpers. Once you start raising preflop that drops rather quickly. When I fist sit at a table, I'll play tight, to get a feel for the table. Find out who I can push around, who's solid and so forth. So as far as strategy goes, it depends on the table and the position I have on certain players. Hope this helps. |

| My strategy is aggression, aggression and then more aggression. I try to be raising a lot both pre and post flop to throw other players off balance a bit and hopefully annoy the hell out of them. I'm still looking to make a decent hand before I stack off most times but I want to appear looser than what I actually am. I usually avoid tables full of nits because they are so boring to play it's not funny. I only play 6 max and I looking for the looser tables with average % seeing flop 30% or more. Table selection is important because one bad player can be so profitable especially if he's to your right. If you are lucky and get 2 or 3 spewy players at your table then play as long as they play. |

| My only advice is to find what works for u and make the most out of it. Don't play two many diffrent games and levels. stick to what works and pound the shit out of them. I love tilt 24$ko and i play about ten a day and usually cash in about three. |

In the OP he asked about table selection, which can only mean cash games. Which is what I was talking about. So the all does apply. Meaning all profitable cash game players. I wasn't talking about tourny play, nor do I think the OP was asking about tourny play. |
