Taking shots at higher level, within BRM I had $8 of freeroll winnings at a small site, have ground it up to $100 playing 2nl 6max and 9max in the last month or so. There is no 2c/5c level, the next level being 5c/10c, when should I start taking shots at 10NL? Im thinking $110, 50 buy-ins at 2Nl, and one buy-in for 10NL. btw, a few of the losing regs at 2NL also play the 10NL, so it should be a good jump, right? your thoughts please.

I would never dare to jump a lvl without 50 buy-ins . The reason is that i do not want to play with fear. Playing verry tight to conserve your bankroll against bad beats is just a way to get trapped because you become predictible. 10NL is full of semi-pros winning a decent amount every mounth and you will have a hard time to adjust witch will deplete your bankroll quick. If you are thinking just taking a shot at 10 NL(if that is what you really ment with 1 buy-in ) with 10 dollars is just trying to get lucky . You do not even have the time to adjust to one table. And than what? W8 untill you win another buy-in for 10 NL? There will be other players at the table and you will run in circle. Last edited by swingro : 25th July 2011 at 10:43 AM. |

I think the minimum buy ins should be 20 so you should have $200 for 10NL. Having only 10 doesnt leave you alot of room for varience..its all too easy to have a unlucky streak and be down 6 buy ins. Fish cracking your sets with runner runner straights, AA being cracked by KK etc. It can all go against you like this for several sessions in a row. Personally I like to have 30BIs before moving up. But it sounds like you've already convinced yourself to go ahead with 10 BIs so gl.

I guess there is no problem in taking a shot at NL 10, as long as you will strictly keep your BRM if you loose this one shot. So if you looes and fall below $100, just play again NL2 as long as you reach again $110 for a second shot at NL10. Don´t try to win back the moeny at NL10

In small rooms you have no choice but to play different stakes because of a lack of tables..which is annoying imo. I was forced to do so on Carbon and I guess if your american you dont have much choice in the matter. If you start off just one table of 10NL you wont need such a big cushion. Im not sure what the best network is for americans now in terms of traffic for cash games. I was playing on Carbon March-June and it was very frustrating not being able to table select.

re: Poker & Taking shots at higher level, within BRM That suck man, i do have the luck to get my money out from there and jump from the ship before sink. Playing now in Stars with tinny roll ($60) but better than nothing. Why not go to play there?. I can ship you $10 there if you want, not much but can´t do more now. Is a pain to be playing in those crappy sites. Still gl in the grinding, hopely Fulltilt update give you good news. Sorry for derail your topic

yeah Logan I stupidly thought my money would be alright at FT, my fault. thanks so much for offer, thats good of you, but I have like $20 at PS, might start grinding 2nl with that, although I love playing this other site, 200 player pool at 2nl, and only 20 competent regs, so lots of fishes. cheers bud.
