Switching from Donk 'n Gos to Multi Table Donkaments...Chris?

So Chris is prbly if the not the best player on this site that you can give him any hand and he can give you a valid long answer that i hardly ever read of why you should do something and why its the best move to make.

Why do you play SNGS, MTT is where you can to be established and where the money is at. Why do you only play SNGS and not big money MTT's?

You never hear a pro. poker player(PPP) referred to as a professional SNG player. They get reffered to by there number of final tables and millions of dollars won.

It seems like for the time, money and ROI that MTT's are where the pros and money is at, shouldnt someone of your skill be dailiy playing $20/$50?$100 MTTS?

Advice? thoughts?

I honestly don't usually have the time to dedicate with the time required to play a large MTT. I will play a few on the weekends, but I find that Stars doesn't usually run them when I do have the time to invest. As I am writing this, there is only 1 tourney registering with a buy in under $30. Therefor, I usually play the larger SNGs (18ppl +)

Someone of chris skill level should be making 1000's if not 10,000's of dollars a month, time should not be a factor. I dont know how you can say pokerstars doesnt run any MTT for your time, maybe none you like.

Gotta agree with you misch; I myself wonder sometimes why Chris is playing $10 and $20 SnGs.

Sad part is hes playing hours of sngs and losing, how the hell?
I can give you a list of the top 100 pokerstars pros, run all of them through sharkscope and then through the DB, most have little Or negative SNG profit. Tournaments(the ones chris should be playing based on skill level) are set up to where you can do good(win) 1 and thee lose 100+ and still have profit, SNGs are 100% different and are very hard to turn a big(big???) profit constantly.

Chris should be playing huge tournaments and getting to the final table.

Poker is more than getting 2 cards and knowing how to play them correctly in every situation, there bankroll mngment as well as knowing what to play.

I have done well in MTT's quite often. My biggest problem with playing in them is time. Life is so very busy I can not find the time to play them. When I sit down to play I might have 1-2 hours, but very rarely anymore than that. Maybe thats Chris's problem also. I am hugely drawn to the sit-n-go's because of the time factor. Sometimes you can get through a 10 player s-n-g in less than 1 or 1&1/2 hours. Thats good timing for me.

Well about 6 months ago now, i had a nice MTT cash and decided to hit up the $22 sit and gos almost exclusively. About 100 games into this i hit a downswing, of the $500 ish range. Not really bad play but a combination of bad luck and tilt, so i decided to hit the MTT scene for a while, im still playing MTT almost all the time. But you have to realise MTT's do take a lot of time, and i certainly wouldnt recommend jumping straight into playing the sunday million every week.

It comes down to time as well, and not just the amount of time you have to play, but are you really prepared to play for a 6 hour stint folding the vast majority of your hands. 4 Tabling sit and go's is certainly more exciting. Chris even moving away from them bloody turbo games could be a start.

There are plenty of people who make a decent living off of SnGs alone. You can really get into a groove with them and make a consistent profit (though of course smaller than hitting big in an MTT). I unfortunately haven't found that groove above the $10 level.

You also never hear about how much pro-players pay to enter tourneys nor do you ever get to see their accounts.

i cant really see why chris only plays sngs, its so stupid when you have that much skill. He could be making a lot of mone yona regular basis.

Okay, misch just hassled me on MSN about what I assume to be this thread...

- I have a full-time job. I do not rely on poker for any income, nor do I play at sufficiently high levels for any 'normal' profit/loss to have any real impact on me. I mainly play for recreation, although I enjoy the 'learning process' involved in poker too. However, just because I enjoy reading about, say, rocket science, doesn't mean I absolutely have to become a full-time rocket scientist.

- I agree that long-term, SNGs aren't really viable as a source of income. At the higher levels everyone is playing so closely to perfection that there is very little edge to be had. However, I enjoy SNGs. I enjoy the mechanical nature of them. I enjoy the fact it's so incredibly easy to multitable them. And as I've already stated, money isn't a huge concern for me.

- Turbos are not 'luckfests'. Yeah, the variance is higher than in regulars (as I of course have recently discovered), but there is still edge to be had from knowing effective push/fold strategy (seriously, I see so many people limp-folding with ~10BB stacks it's hilarious).

- If I really wanted to get into poker for the money, I would deeply study cash game strategy. The scope for profit for a truly exceptional player in cash games is far huger than in MTTs (people in the biggest online cash games are routinely contesting pots equivalent to someone FTing the Sunday Million on Stars, for example).

This said, I'm thinking about making February an 'MTT only' month just for shits and giggles (and to shut meeshman up ^^), as long as 10-20/180 man donkngos count.

CHris just played a $10 and $25 MTT, he beat 800+ in both.
He cashed in teh $10 and barely missed cashing in the $25.
