Stud H/L Players?

This is directed toward the freaks like me that enjoy Stud H/L. I have started playing recently and doing pretty well, but I had a losing session last night. I was looking at my stats, and I noticed a 30-point difference between hands played on third street and fourth street (almost 60% down to 30%). I am looking at this as a ton of wasted bets, which could have turned last night into a winning one, or at least breaking even.

I am not asking for starting hand minimums, as that should just work itself out. I am asking what your typical calling percentages for a successful Stud H/L player are on third street. I also would like input from Omaha H/L players, as I feel the strategy is similar at this point in a hand.

I play stud8. Not sure of the stats you are referring to -- are you tracking yourself? as I dont know any software that does so.
If I understand your question, you are calling 3rd 60% of the time and folding half of those on 4th. Simply, you are calling too many hands and need to tighten up, IMHO.
I dont know of any percentages for call/raise etc. rate in stud8, if there is a book on that I would love to see it.
Also I think coflating O8 and stud8 discussions could be very confusing; they are not the same game at all.

I have been following my progress through FT stats. Nothing fancy, just trying to fix any holes in my game.

I have been reading Super/System, and it covers starting hands to call/raise/fold. But, I was more interested in what works in the online world. I do see that I have not been selective enough.

My VPIP for 3rd street full ring is somewhere around 25%. And one of the biggest leaks players have is they call too often on 4th/5th drawing to a split.

re: Stud H/L Players? poker

Thanks for the info. I have been finding that by folding more marginal hands on 3rd street, I don't have to worry about calling on 4th/5th when they get even worse.

And doesn't that player know everyone wins in Hi/Lo games

I would even go as low as 20%, depending on stakes and table style. And drawing one way on 4th is only acceptable under certain conditions. And on and on... the Platinum Rule applies throughout the hand in most cases, especially on early streets.
