| so yeah, AKs super tiny sample (1000 hands) but AKs loses me the most money apparently. problem is I 3 bet it (like your supposed to do) then the flop bricks off and I barrel twice and am called twice, then check back the river and they show 10c 5c or some shit.. 10NL, bleh how do you play 3/4bet pots with AK when you brick off? flops, turns, and river play appreciated. tempted to play more passively with them pre.. makes me feel sick thinking about it :/ |

| It's good that you're reviewing and looking at hands, but really a 1k sample is almost completely meaningless - especially considering that over 1k hands on average you'll be dealt AKs only 3 times, and an effective sample size of 3 (or obviously a few more if you're running over expectancy) is... well, y'know, meaningless. That said WVH is right. Certainly firing a second barrel on the turn against an average 10NL player is silly - they're generally not calling the flop to try and steal the pot if you show weakness on the turn, they're calling the flop because they have a hand they like (whether it's actually a good hand or not is irrelevant seeing as in most cases it will beat your A-high), so unless the turn is really scary to them, they ain't folding very often to turn pressure. |

| re: so yeah, AKs poker PhoneJack - ..if you 3 bet then check they're going to fire the flop whether they hit or not. and if you 3 bet and only bet when you've hit for value then your easily exploitable. Dork M - Got in about 5k hands now, had AKo/AKs 52 times total.. lost me about a buy in, in all. Might be a bit of a downswing even if it is a small sample, but been coolered KK vs AA 5x and got KK in vs QQ once and they hit their set. KQs, JJ and AKs are my most unprofitable hands, do I need to tighten up in your opinion? WV - so what do you think I should do, barrel once then give up every time I miss? Is it flop turn dependant? Honestly dunno why I'm asking that tbh, course the turn card makes a difference.. umm, better question, which cards are good for me to barrel? Apart from AKQ turns, in 2 flush flops do I barrel when the flush comes in? If I have the A for that suit should I continue/shove? I'm about breaking even aside from the coolers and suckouts.. (people calling 5x from me OP with Q9 vs AQ then Q9 flop etc) its just the rake that I'm down according to PT3.. maybe I'm just running a little bad atm? I hope.. |

| cbet most boards ~1/2 pot, check back on boards where you just arent getting folds like 247r and Id stay away from cbetting the obvious connected boards like T8J Im not really sure what you mean by flush flops and then the flush comes in and we have A for that suit, I thought we had AKs? but if you meant we hit flush then just bet for value |

| Jurn - Yeah, what if we have AKo, in that spot.. I'm 3 betting that too, obvz Cafe - ahh fair enough, just figured check folding after some flops is bad but ok.. oh look, got it again.. swear I'm supposed to hit 1/3 of the time with this thing? :/ |

I'm probably folding AK by the turn 50% of the time. I gotta wonder how much you are betting on the flop and turn - that might be the biggest reason it's a loser for you. Don't make a big pot unless you have the goods. How'd it turn out this time? |

| The way I see it is, betting in that way, can make you win some hands and lose others, the thing is, when you win, it will probably be a small win because the other player will end up folding by the flop or turn, but when you lose, you'll lose a lot cause you'll keep betting big when the other person has you beat. So, be aware of how the person playing that hand has been playing so far and act depending on that, among other things. |

Well actually its not, more like.. profit, profit, profit, cooler, profit, profit, profit, cooler.. profit, profit, profit, suck out, rinse and repeat. Might be giving poker a serious break, before I smash something valueable. Quote:
Oh yeah, I'm losing a fair bit out the SB and BB, this normal? I'm profitable everywhere else except the HJ, I'm getting 3 bet a LOT from there |

| Yes it's normal since you have to voluntarily put money into the pot with ATC and most of the time you fold. I presume you have a tracker to know how many times you got AK, convert them into readable forms and just create a thread with them in. You don't have to post all of them but I'd post a fair few to see if there is an obvious leak as to why you're losing with one of the strongest hands in poker. |
