So I just started playing again I use to play full tilt and cashed out before they got bust. I was a pretty good player I think cashing couple times in MTT and finishing 2nd on 12.5k gurantee (head 4x chipstack during heads up but blew it away.) that was my best accomplishment. Today on lock poker I deposited $30 and played for about 8 hours. I was doing alright in the micro cash games and played in couple STT (mostly double or nothing) I'm still learning the game and I'm a very young player (18) I want to improve my online game and it seems to me like every time I make a profit in a micro cash game I tend to lose.. should I cash out and rebuy for max again or keep playing with the big stack I have? Anyway I know these are alot of questions and I will be depositing about $100 on lock again tomorrow to start working on my bankroll. I kinda have a plan of playing on 5 STT then a small guranteed tournament. does that sound like a smart idea? any tips would be appreciated on how to increase my bankroll with the minimal risk. Sorry for all these questions lol!

re: So I just started playing again poker So you have been quite successful in MTTs but not so much in cash games...is that right? If you are new to cash games the best thing to do is to start at the bottom and work your way up the stakes using proper bankroll management. If you jump into playing 10NL for example, that $100 roll will probably be gone pretty quick. There is a lot to learn if you want to beat cash games, but when you can beat a level (even 2NL ), cash games are a very good bankroll builder. As for leaving the table with a big stack, it's not necessary, especially if everyone else still has only 100BB because that's what the effective stacks your playing for are. But if there is another big stack be cautious of playing big hands against them with good but not great holdings. GL

#1 - Do not dabble (play tourney then cash then full ring then 6 max then DON then 90 man then HU). Lock onto a game (and level) for about 90 days and focus on beating it. get a book on that specific game and learn it. The nuances and differences in strategy of the games available to you is pretty big. Yeah they are all poker (NLHE?) but they are very different - some more different than others. #2 - If you are getting ahead in cash and then end up losing it could very well be that you are changing your play because you have more chips - something pretty common in tourney play but could be a mistake in cash. You become chip leader at the table and start feeling invincible and start playing a wider range, take more chances. Adrenaline takes over wanting to get another big pot and you start playing on emotion and not smarts. #3 - Stop worrying about cashing. Your number one focus should be learning. The money will come.

Formula for success: Quarterback - focus on form and mechanics of his throw - not TDs Point Guard - focus on form and mechanics of his shot - not baskets Golfer - focus on form and mechanics of his swing - not hole in ones Poker Player - make as much money as fast as he can One of these things is not like the others, one of these things isn't the same. Can you guess which one?
