SnG Strategy playing with lots of donks

Folks,

I need some strategy when it comes to playing with lots of donks at the table. Today, I played a 9 player SnG. Five of the players were the classic donks ( one of them if not all were always going allin all game and calling everything.(No exaggeration on this!! ) I found it very difficult to play. I finally grabbed the chip lead and won the tourney. ( A few very close calls) .I mean how do you play them, you never know what is coming, no matter what the correct way to play the situation is. I mean, if you have a pair of 7's and want to call the donk goes allin, you gotta fold. If you have 10 10,JJ or QQ your calling but most likely raising. The donk goes allin. I have to fold. How do u manage a game like this? If I have KK and want to raise big raise or allin, the donks are calling you no matter what. To me, this kills your game. If I have a low or mid pair I call or raise a bit the Donk is going allin. I have to fold. If I play too tight I will be short stacked to the Donks. How do u manage a game like this. Does anyone recommend a specific stategy to play against someone who plays every hand , goes allin whatever the situation. I played a very good game but found it very very difficult. I'd rather play against a good player, it least I know what I am up against. On a thread today, I heard alot of (you should want to play these donks all the time to take their money which I agree with. But I need a better gameplan.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

just stay tight, dont start playing marginal cards
wait for those big hands, ur 10-10, J-J, Q-Q, K-K. A-A. A-K. A-Q
the donkies will eventually knock themselves out

Overall and in the long run their bad play is anything but bad for you. Like pantin said just wait them out.

The method that works best for me is exactly what they have already said. In a 9 seater, you can make it to the money usually by only playing 5 or 6 hands to showdown. Wait for the cards. Don't feel you have to mix it up. Without fantastic cards don't do anything the first 2 or 3 orbits. Throw in a few dramatic decision time eaters to make sure they know you are there and thinking, then fold. When the time comes, be aggressive. The first time you aggressively enter a pot, after sitting dead for several orbits you will probably get a walk. Caveat here, occasionally, it will happen that at that moment that you finally enter a pot aggressively with KK, you will run into AA. Very very rare in a SnG career. But overall, you need to win a whole lot fewer pots than you think you do to get ITM in SnG's.

If you have established yourself as solid, and the above play will set that into your opponents minds, once you get ITM, you must change gears radically! In order to win you must show no wimpyness!

With only 3 players he who goes agro first will win most of the pots. The raise fold becomes important.

When playing against total donks, I have no problem playing a 100% transparent game. I know they will call to any raise, so I stop bluffing them and only raise with quality hands. I will raise more with better hands, knowing full well that they will not take advantage of this information. And, I will make insane payoff bets on the river when I hold the nuts, knowing that most are unable to throwaway a pair.

I pretty much agree with what has been said, I'll usually play super tight early raising my premiums and limping a few speculative hands in lp if i'm pretty certain I can see a flop for the minimum. The main benefit to playing tight early is that every player that is eliminated will raise your tournament equity, so doubling up early and eliminating one player will usually not be as significant to your chances of winning or finishing in the money then if you play tight and let 3-4 players eliminate themselves. The midstages I like to open up my game some and take some shots at the blinds and take some cheap stabs at uncontested shorthanded pots. By the time the big blind is 10% of your stack or more you need to be playing the push/fold game. I recommend checking out the sitngo wizard software demo, I think you will be able to get a lot out of it if you havent tried it already.

Patience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st few times they do it give them the benefit of the doubt that they have something, if they do it every time you will eventually get a good hand to take them on and majority of time will be a big favourite.

If they donk you thats poker but when you go in with best hand regularly you will end up in profit in the long run

ABC only with a lot of donks until down to 4 (3 if 6 max), only takes a few (I sometimes manage to just sit out until after the bubble busts) decent hands to be in a good position while at the bubble/bubble just bust. Do not get into any of their wars, let them do themselves in.
