SNG single table satellite strategy...what do you think?

Hi all.

I have just started playing single table SNG`s to qualify for the 50000k tourny.

U enter these tournys using your FPP`s.

I was shocked at first as they seemed like freerolls - ppl pushing with any holding.

I decided that the way to play these games is very little different from normal - pretty much TAG. I did, however, loosen up my play in the first round, playing suited connectors, any pair in any position, any 2 paint, etc, etc - The first round only.

The reason for the post.

I played 5 games and my positions were 4, 4, 6, 3, 2 - only 1st place qualified. (So I didnt )

However, on 3 occassions I went out when I was dominating the other guy pre flop in heads up all ins. My AK v their AQ (flop Q) my AA v their 44 (4 on flop) my AK v their KQ (flop KQQ). The other two hands the guy was ahead of me but I was short stacked. I had to push.

I`m getting to the point, please hang in there!!!

Do you guys feel playing TAG in single table SNG satellites is as good a strategy as any?

Unlike mad rebuys or massive mtt freerolls I personaly feel playing a strong TAG game is the way to do it in this kind of game.

I don`t, however, have a large enough sample. Any ideas or comments appreciated

since 1st is the only one getting the prize, Id be more inclined to take a risk or two early to try to build a dominating chip lead, but if the players are all as bad as you say, then TAG would be the way to go.

u don't need to get involved in the early hijinks if you don't have anything... but if you see the smallest edge at all, be happy to get your chips in bc you need all of them to win... 2nd place is the first loser...

It took me 7 games to qualify

So I`m happy with that.

I did play my normal game and watched a lot - that helped more than normal in the early stages. One guy was pushing all in with zero. I caught AKd. I could not decide if I should go all in (1470 chips with blinds of 20/10 ) or limp and hope for a reraise. I though and pushed all in. The maniac called, showed Q9o ) I caught A on flop - phew!!!

So, in sumary, I feel play your normal TAG game & watch more than normal early in a game
