re: SnG in the money % poker

I'd have to say everytime. I'm assuming you're playing a 9-handed, one table games. I know the little guide I give myself is to reach 1st place everytime, but atleast the money. So I mean... it's not too bad if you're playing well and you get beat but once you start making stupid decisions... stop playing tournaments. Start fresh the next time.

Check out one of the stats sites - www.officialpokerrankings,com, or www.pokerprolabs.com, etc. - to see what others are accomplishing. ROI rather than ITM may be a more useful metric (a lower ITM can have a higher ROI when the player places first more frequently than third). I think I saw in other postings here something like 40% ITM being a good target result... I see players with a positive ROI on these sites with ITM's less than 40% for SNG's...

Srsly 100% in the money is absolutely impossible.
Look at your ROI more than ITM %.
Get your ROI around 30%. For SNG thats ridiculously good.
For MTT of course you can win much more so ppls ROI is much higher

itm is pretty irrelevant. one guy could have 30% itm and be a net winner and the next could have 40% and be a loser. just focus on roi and maybe your distribution of 1st/2nd/3rd/4th places.

re: SnG in the money % poker

I would say 1/3 In the Money would be good a reasonable goal.

Well... is that even a positive result.. $10 dollar buy-in.
1st = 50% = $45.
2nd = 30% = $27.
3rd = 20% = $18.

for 1 win in 3 SnG's .. a 3rd is -$9.00, 2nd is breaking even and a 1st would have you up $18.

For me I'd have to say I need to be ITM 50% or I'm not doing good enough.

have you tried the ps double or nothing sng? 10 players, top five almost double their buy-in. making it to the top five isn't difficult, unless you just aren't getting any winning hands that day. I won 10 the same day I made my first deposit and almost doubled my br. It's a slow way to build a br, but not as difficult as trying to win 1st in a regular sng.

$25.00 - $1+.25 + $2.00
$26.75

$1.75 x 10 = $17.50
+$25.00

$42.50

I dunno, I used to coast into the money 3/5 times.. then I took it all into one big SnG and blew it and got 4th... so don't do that. If you play enough constantly.. you get a good feel for everything. I'd just get in there, but make the smart BR decisions.

^ this.

Just limping into third place most of the time won't always net you a profit, so chasing a certain ITM number can actually be counter productive.

Like Dorkus and a few others have said, focus on your ROI instead (ensuring that you include rake / entry fees in your calculations). If your ROI is positive then you're making progress, and your ITM number is irrelevant.
