in a slump

When you are in a slump, playing well but taking unbelievable bad beat after bad beat, What do you do? Keep hammering away at your game as your bankroll dwindles or do you take a substantial break? And if so how long?
Anyone?

Well I have yet to suffer such a long term, bad beat slump but there are times when I am not in the mood to give it 100%.

It all depends on your personality..and how much you are losing!

Sometimes I leave it a few days, sometimes a week until I am gagging to get back on.

I dont believe in staying and hammering away. If you are taking bad beats, call it a night and go to bed. The poker rooms aint going anywhere

I have tried playing through slumps, and I have tried taking a break. I find taking a break is the best way to do it.

Slump or bad luck, call it what you want, but for the most part it's psychological, if you think you are in a slump or having a run of bad luck then that's what will happen, if you believe that taking a break and regrouping will get you through it, thats what you should do.

If you think you are in a slump or getting bad luck, then you will play like it, either by playing hands you normally wouldn't, or folding hands you would normally play fearing the bad beat. Sort of a self fulfilling prophecy. That's why I don't like or believe in playing through a slump, poker is a very psychological game. If your mind isn't in the right place you can't play well.

Just my 2 chips.

Well I know I went into a slump recently at Ultimatebet where I went bust on a table 5times in a row and all with hands I really should have won and couldn't have played any better if I tried. All the hands were 66% faves up to even 91 and even my AA was broke by A10. My rule is when I bust at a table, I quit for a while. I may go back later in the day I may not. But when you are in a slump, and all your best plays are losing to luck, you know you should take a break from it for a bit.

However long you decide is up to you.
