Simple raising question

Here's the scenario. You are in a 1.20 45 person tournament with 30 people left. You have an average chip stack. You are at a full table, third person to act after the blinds. You are dealt KQo. Do you call BB or raise? Also what about ATo? Thanks for your opinions.

It depends.

What size stacks are left to act? What type of players are left to act? Does the BB defend his blinds aggressively? What's my table image? What have I done over the last several hands?

Basically, depending on the answers to these questions, I will raise or fold (I would very rarely open limp).

Let's assume we have no reads on anyone at the table, as if it was one of the first hands.

re: Simple raising question poker

I'd likely fold both. The problem is that if we raise we get called by hands that are dominating us and if we limp we let the any 2 carders get in cheap. Especially early on I'd fold. The best thing that can happen with these type hands is to steal the blinds and early in a tourney they're not large enough to take the chance.

Ok, no read on the table,
anybody limp before us?
Anyone coming from UTG,+1 OR 2 should have a hand

My personal opinion is to fold the KQo in early to mid position
especially if we are new to a table or early in a tourney,
no reads makes that a hard hand to play for me

ATo in early to mid, fold or give it a 4X BB raise,
early we should be looking at $80 or $120?
hopefully a very small % of our stack
should be easy to fold if we get reraised,
problem is we will probably get called, then you are stuck with a ?
WHAT DID THEY CALL WITH?
what happens if we flop middle pair?

if you decide to play ATo,
dont limp with it
lets see where we are by betting at and start learning about this table

jmo,
dont kill the average player, lol
