| Sacrifying ROI for better $/hr Here's what I just thought about. Playing SNGs I sometimes make some theoretically bad moves. For example, I may have a straight draw with 31.5% to win, but i would sometimes call 33.3% of the amount i could win if i hit. I occasionally (not too often, though) take those slightly negative opportunities to build a huge stack in the lowest buyins i play ($1.1 SNGs), but i have just thought it may be actually not a so wrong strategy as it may seem. Here is why. I have my ROI of about 70-80% playing those SNGs (it's a sample of 100 games for now, but you can trust me it's a pretty close estimate) and i'm constantly making some profit of it. Back to these bad moves, as the result i will be busted 2 times out of three, saving some 40 minutes of time. The other time i will have tripled my stack up giving me the very decent chances for the 1st place. I can even use my big stack to create better edges during the remaining trny. You can see it the other way - would you like to play three SNGs (3 hours of play) having an average ROI of 80%, or play a single SNG, then give 2 buy-ins to charity (1 hour of play) still leaving you ROI of some 40%? The first case gives us $1.1*3*0.8/3h = +$0.88/hour The second case $1.1*3*0.4/1h = +$1.32/hour |

| very interesting point you have made tom. i personally have never looked at it this way before, but i also never call much of any amount on an inside straight draw. from the stats you gave here, if they are correct, it could be a very strong playing technique indeed. i aint ballsy enuff to find out though lol |
