Rules of low level sng's

1. You CANNOT push out a flush draw
2. They all play ANY ace and will go broke with a pair of aces
3. A good part of them will play any 2 suited cards
4. Rarely can you push people out with a re-raise preflop. If someone called theyre gonna be in the hand
5. They will slowplay everything above a pair.
6. They overplay pocket pairs like it's their job
7. A good part of them will call down with middle or low pair, gutshot straight draws, basically if they catch ANY piece of the flop they're in the hand till the end

The level of play is so horrible that to consistently win you have to be able to dodge bullets. Well, I mean, you can consistently win, I win at a good rate, but in every one of these tournaments I feel that I'm the best player at the table by ALOT and theres no reason I shouldnt win every one, thats what causes the frustration. When you start running bad there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. You can't make moves. All you can do is hope and pray the cards fall your way. Basically they will make all the wrong moves, and half the time they'll be rewarded, the other half, you'll be rewarded. I guess that's poker... but low level sngs arent that much fun, I'm not having fun at all grinding it out to try to get a decent bankroll so I can go play some real poker with people who understand the game just a LITTLE. These games are a real joke.

I disagree, somewhat. Yes, most tables are full of inexpereinced players, but some are quite skilled. Inexperince will usually make a dumb play that will get them eliminated. The more of them, the better I say. You need to adjust to the table, no matter the stakes. In most cases a small raise will scare off more people than a big raise - people think you are trying to but the pot with a big raise.

Yes there are a lot of fish waiting for their straight or flush, but you will beat them over 60% of the time, so I am happy if they are chasing. As for playing A-X, I read on here somewhere that A-X will beat K-Q 80%(???) of the time. I can't remember the exact percentage, but it was really high, so why wouldn't you play A-X when at a $1 table???

the way i see it is that if everyone plays to the river all or most of the time...it becomes bingo or keno rather than poker....and we all know that some people grind money from the quagmire that is low level sng's...but there is no fun in it...lets face it...if you want some poker fun to be as close to a boys/girls...friday night poker play...steer clear from them...if you make a living from endless slogging at poker tables...go fer it!

Ohh ..and dont get me started on low level limit.....id rather watch paint dry than go there.

i know what you mean

when i play low level tournys, i tend to play lesser hands just because i see what people are playing with. so then i take away any advantage i have. i consistantly do this. i need to learn self control when playing these tournys even though you need to dodge bullets it doesnt hurt to go in with the best!

I play pretty tight at first and normally double-up (or better) when I get a good hand. This sets me up pretty nice.. and i'll start opening up my game a little bit. Pretty much everytime someone goes out, my style gets a little more loose/aggressive. If I've got chiplead with just a few players left, I'll tighten up again, and let them knock themselves out Unless of course I catch a big hand, then I'll gladly knock them out myself. hehe

The odds are not nearly that good. Ax VS KQ is only 57% to win assuming neither are suited. This also assumes no other hands are playing and there will be a showdown. And it never does any good to argue the playability of a starting hand based on how it lines up to any one other hand...because we don't know what they have. Hey, if you know you will be facing only one opponent and you know he/she has KQ, play that Ax.

There are several problems with Ax that all involve what you do after the flop. Let say you pair your ace on a board of A-K-9 and two players check to you (cause I am assuming you are at least smart enough to not play Ax out of position). How do you bet? What if you are called? What if you are CRed? What if you pair your low card? Do you play it? Ax is no fun to play against aggressive players...and little fun against a passive table, IMHO.

Hey, but I have lots of love for the "any Ace" players at my NL games.
