Role of Intuition

Is there anyone out there can suggest methods to improve intution as it specifically applies to poker? Nothing particularly mystical, but just a way to get a better feel for the subtle changes that take place at the table that reveal loads of information to more experienced players. Play lots and lots of hands and pay attention. And read as many books as you can.

Reads are often about pattern recognition. If you've seen people reraise dozens of times on a particular texture of flop and more often than not they've had aces beat then some neurons in your brain might raise the warning flag of recognition before you push all in.

You might not be able to articulate why you suddenly slow down so it might feel intuitive but it's probably your brain dredging up the relevant stats.

Intuition is your subconscience processing information. The feeling you get when you know or think something but don't know why. In poker it comes from experience and paying attention. Learn the other players, you may not be able to remember everything but your subconscience will.

Like the others have said just watch the other players at the table. Pay attention to betting patterns and also change up your style from time to time. I see people get themselves into trouble becasue they always play the same style. Don't be afraid to mix it up, it will go a long way in keeping your opponents guessing and less likely for them to get a read on you.
