Ring: Drop off in skill level?

I've played all levels of ring from $5NL, to $10NL, to $25NL, to $50NL and now to $100NL. I am not properly bankrolled for $100NL and i usually buy in with $60, yes i know this is not smart.

I'm doing the rampage and i made it up to $100NL and i played about 65 hands there and i noticed how awful the players were there. I ended up getting busted on hand 65 when i flipped a coin.

The play was so bad i came back(I have 425 hands) and ive played prbly 10 tables(not @ same time) and its all the same. I started saving a few HHs of just the worst possible plays and it got so grose i stopped. Ive made a decent chunk of money playing at this limit.

People overcall huge bets with any 2 cards, literally any 2. They call big raises with gut shuts. They will call $5 Bets on every street with ace high and then wil bluff $10 on the river. They cant fold any pair. Its disgusting.

I've played all the limits and it seems that as you rise from $5NL to $50NL the skill level rises and then all of a sudden just totally drops off at $100NL. Its somewhat even worse than $5NL. $5NL dont make some of the calls they do.

I know my sample size is small for my stats but after playing a dozen tables, there all full of idiots.

Thoughts? Advice?

I don't play at these levels but I do occasionally watch high limit games online and you are absolutely correct. I've come to the conclusion that bad play at higher levels comes from two sources.

1. Super rich players that have no respect for money hence they do not care if they lose thousands of dollars via bad play.

2. Degenerate gamblers who know little about playing poker but figure playing any hand can lead to a big payout. Kind of like the roulette wheel.

As far as QQ and JJ you can forget about getting people to muck their ace with any kind of preflop raise. Some folks just will not let go of any ace no matter how hard you push.

tb and I think joose are the only ones I know that have played $100. What do they think?

I've noticed the same thing with the STT's on Stars.

$1 STTs are ok play for the limit.
$5 STTs are far worse than the $1's
$10 STTs, Better play than the $1 or $5
$20 STTs are like playing freerolls. Horrible play, I think Jamie Gold plays these limits

I agree mischman. I had a month where i more than 8X increased my deposit. I made profit at 100NL and sit n gos and was down at 25NL and 50NL.

I dunno if its us who play better since more money is at stake and we pay more attention or players are bad, but i too found it way more profitable at that level.

I agree the play on nl$100 is terrible and it looks like its an easier level to beat than nl$50. The variance is terrible though.

the only advice i can give here is that money is to be made at $2/$4 limit...i believe 50% of the players there are mentally retarded

$100 NL and $200 NL are gold mines for anyone player, the play from $200 NL to $400 NL is a massive skill jump. Not really sure what the original question is, are the players at $100 NL really that bad? Yes.

if you are properly bankrolled for that limit then $100 and $200 NL is a gold mine just be careful moving up to $400 NL because the skill level makes a incredible jump.

I play $100 NL and I take a shot at $200 here and there. I haven't played enough 1/2 online to really comment on it but I wouldn't say the play at $100 NL is really all that different from $50 NL from what I have seen. Maybe it's just me though, i'm going to have a looksie in my PT when I get home.

One thing I can tell you is the heads up $100 NL on FT can be a gold mine if you stay away from the regs and have a BR to handle the variance.
