| ridiculous donk betting (light content) I remember a thread where someone talked about how to react to absurdly small donk bets. I can relate to the innate desire to want to jam over them even without a hand. So I did some experimenting to see how light people would reraise them. Note that hand 1 is played terribly from start to finish, probably a fold on all streets. But after the flop I was pretty sure he had a pair under the board...I think I would have called the river with KQ myself... the second is purely for amusement $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Holdem 6 Players Hand Conversion Powered by weaktight.com Stacks: UTG ($60.95) UTG+1 ($120.15) CO ($89.50) BTN ($152.05) Hero (SB) ($58.85) BB ($72.50) Pre-Flop: ([color:#0000cc]$0.75, 6 players) Hero is SB ![]() [color:#272BA6]UTG raises to $1.75, 3 folds, [color:#B93238]Hero calls $1.50, 1 fold Flop: ([color:#0000cc]$4, 2 players)[color:#272BA6]Hero bets $1, [color:#272BA6]UTG raises to $5, [color:#B93238]Hero calls $4 Turn: ([color:#0000cc]$14, 2 players)[color:#272BA6]Hero bets $1, [color:#272BA6]UTG raises to $10.75, [color:#B93238]Hero calls $9.75 River: ([color:#0000cc]$35.50, 2 players)[color:#272BA6]Hero bets $1, [color:#272BA6]UTG goes all-in $43.45, [color:#272BA6]Hero goes all-in $40.35 Final Pot: [color:#0000cc]$120.30 UTG shows ![]() Hero shows a pair of Aces ![]() Hero wins $115.20 (net +$56.35) UTG collects $2.10 (net -$58.85) $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Holdem 6 Players Hand Conversion Powered by weaktight.com Stacks: UTG ($114) UTG+1 ($25.15) CO ($189.70) BTN ($49) SB ($53.30) Hero (BB) ($94.45) Pre-Flop: ([color:#0000cc]$0.75, 6 players) Hero is BB ![]() 1 fold, [color:#B93238]UTG+1 calls $0.50, 3 folds, Hero checks Flop: ([color:#0000cc]$1.25, 2 players)[color:#272BA6]Hero bets $1, [color:#272BA6]UTG+1 raises to $4.25, [color:#B93238]Hero calls $3.25 Turn: ([color:#0000cc]$9.75, 2 players)[color:#272BA6]Hero bets $1, UTG+1 folds Final Pot: [color:#0000cc]$10.75 Hero wins $10.30 (net +$4.55) UTG+1 lost $4.75 |

| That first hand cracks me up. And I also want to put my chips on the table with a sledgehammer when someone does this stupid little move. I hate donk bettors! If it's someone who has been playing relatively straight I will give them some respect. But the ones who do it every time they are in a pot (and that's usually around 80% of pots) just annoy the bejesus out of me. I like the post though. Kinda funny to see how those worked out. |

I'm pretty convinced that people just like to post random hands where they win a stack regardless of applicability to the actual thread. |

| Whoops. I though donk betting was related to ludicrously small bets in relation to the pot. Which of the following is required for it to be a donk bet? 1. Small raise 2. OOP 3. PFR by someone else 4. Call / check pre-flop Does a minraise first to act on the flop count as a donk bet when you have checked the BB? |

The ludicrously small bets in relation to the pot are just incredibly annoying - I totally sympathize w Villain in the first hand baudib posted, I probably would've played it the same, simply cuz you don't see good players doing it that often/ever (which is why baudib's post here is so cool, he's a good player demonstrating that it can be used effectively). |

| But what do you do against those that donk bet when they have something, and donk bet trying to bluff? I have encountered them...seems the only reasonable solution is to just call every time you have something that's not the nuts or close to it... |

If you are the donk bettor, then I would advise sticking a real bet in on the turn if they just call. Any smart player is just gonna call you down cheap and take easy showdown. |
