Relative Value
First I would like to say thank you to everyone at Cardschat who have posted (good or bad) I can honestly say this forum has helped me improve my game. So again THANKS guys and girls. This is mainly for new players so bare with me. Alot of times you'll hear new players say "I had to call;I had a full house" or "I had to fold;I didn't have anything". A full house is one of the strongest hand in poker, but it is Relatively useless when you hit your pocket deuces on the river to fill a board reading KQQK2 and it's 3 bets to you. relatively useless compared to one of the numerous hands your opponents are representing that contain a king or queen. Fold out and save your chips. "I had to fold;I didn't have anything". Likewise when your in a pot that is large relative to the amount you have to call on the river, you may want to call even if all you can beat is a bluff. For example your playing NL theres $450 in the pot pre flop and you're holding AK, both you and your opponent have checked the flop and turn and then they throw out a small bet on the river on a board reading (7h3c2c2d3s) Your opponent has shown no intrest until the river so you probably want to call.Well thats all for now,so good luck all. Feel free to add or correct me guys. T. |
