Rebuy MTT???
Hello, this is my first post, not sure if this is the right place to post it!
But anyway, I will be playing my first live largescale MTT this friday, approx 150ppl. Buy in is 50€ or 80$. It is NLHE. There are 3rebuys and 1 top up max. Rebuys and top up are 25€,half the entry fee. The top 20 will be payed out. My questions are, With the top up and rebuys only half the entry fee will this lead to very loose play? Whats my best strategy for this event? Ive only ever played rebuy STT's. How can I best take advantage of the field? In what situation should I top up after the rebuy period? Thanks in advance!!! |

In my experience there is a lot of aggressive loose play up to the first break (more money than sense lol).
Good thing in you favour is that there are only 3 re-buys Best way imo is play a controlled super tight game up to the break. Always take the add-on available to you in the break. Obvious but gives you a bit more ammo to make your move when going through the gears post break ![]() |

Probably should have mentioned this,
You can only rebuy when you have zero chips not including when you go all in, just when you lose all your chips. This changes things alot, any feelings on this? blind levels are standard 25-50 50-100 75-150 etc, level increase every 15-20mins. |

First off, can you afford to rebuy and add-on at the break? I would suggest that you go being able to afford at least on rebuy and the add on for the break. As far as the play goes it shouldn't really change too much from regular tournament strategy. Play fairly tight/aggressive near the early part of the tourny, especially if you are not familiar with the opponents and thier playing styles. Being fairly tight/aggressive near the early stages will allow you to see the playing styles of your opponents so you can adjust accordingly. If you play the opposite style of play as your opponent(tight against loose player & loose against tight player) then you will be able to pick up more pots that way.

You are lucky it is only 3 rebuys. Unlimited ones are worse than freerolls. At least in freerolls you know the asshole won't be coming back.
Rebuys allow you to stay in the game when some donk hits a set of swans when he went allin with the beer hand and you holding Cowboys. Unless you are near the absolute top or can't afford it - addon. |
