Read A Hand With Me

Hi Everyone, its been a while.

(time pots no rake on this hand)

Effective stack of 3000.00 in a 10/20nl game. I have Kd Qd in the cutoff position. A somewhat competent, semi-tight, semi aggresive, player open limps to my right (hijack). My reputation at the table is competent, semi loose, somewhat tricky. I raise to $100.00. Button is a loose aggressive player with bad situational analysis skills. Button calls, and original limper in hijack calls. Everyone else folds.
pot=330.00

flop= Qh,9h,3c . Hijack checks, I check, button leads for 300.00.
hijacks pauses and calls, I call planning to bet the flop if draws don't come in.
pot=1230.00

Turn= 6d
Hijack checks, I bet 1200.00, button folds, hijack calls.
pot=3630.00

River= 8c
Hijack checks.

Is KQ ahead?
what does the hijack have?
Should I bet or check here?
Why?

Good to see many of you are still here.

Bill

Check.

This is dangerous. He could have a set of nines or of threes. He could have JT for the straight. Any of those would fit his play to date, and he may be expecting you to bet his hand for him (again).

Should you bet, he doesn`t call with anything that you can beat. So, you will achieve nothing other than to increase your loss if you are behind.

Nice to see you back Bill.

I bet the flop Seriously though, unless you feel that the HJ is prepared to call with a range of weaker queens, 10's, J's or some strange hand he has backed into, Ah8h for example then its a check. I don't think that a competent player calls down 3 streets with a hand like above.

Our stack size means betting means you almost always have to call a raise, and I don't think our hand is strong enough to play for full stacks (I know it isnt)

I check. Expect to see a variety of hands from missed flushes to sets.

Can't we eliminate Hijack from having a set when he doesn't check raise the flop to protect against a flush draw in a 3 way pot? Perhaps the button has a set, but our plan to lead the turn will resolve that.
So why do you expect to see a set here?

Thanks

Bill

Semi Tight folds A6 PF, Semi Aggy raises it.

Yes, a set is out of the question. QQ, 99 would have raised preflop and 33 would have had to bet the flop. It looks like pot control all the way. But I don't think he makes it to the river with less than top pair. My guess is something like Q8s. Not strong enough to raise, not weak enough to fold.

Value bet that KQ.

Nice to see you again Bill.

for me its the calling... with a 6 on a straight draw its the hit of a pair.. he is still going for a draw but the pair make this be make sense
