Razz About 1 week ago i started really getting into HORSE. i got decent at the hi/lo and razz. Tonight i decided i would enter the ftp razz freeroll. I came in 21 out of 2700 people. Needless to say i am hooked on the game and i was wondering if any one could post a link to a razz website with good detailed info on razz. i have used a search engine but come up with relativley nothing but the basics

well thats just it i didn't really know how basic it was. as in you have your pps in holdem and flushes and something to compare it too. so, i guess it just depends on the hand itself but i still don't really know what is on that line between decent and good

The thing about Razz is that there are no made starting hands, and the strength of your hand is completely relative to the strength of everyone else's. There isn't really an equivalent to pocket or rolled up aces. A23 is the premium starting hand, but there's nothing to say the next few cards won't come KQK. Anywho... I've not found a great deal of online info about Razz, but there's a chapter in Super System that focuses on lowball poker in general, and has a bit of info on Razz in particular Congratulations on the result, BTW - that must've taken what, four or five hours?

re: Razz poker I also discovered Razz quite by accident through FTP and nearly did as well as you on my first go. Finished 29th out of 2700 (t28 for the money, it was sooo frustrating, it still haunts me now. Why did I chase that hand?!). Since then I have finished 34th 45th and 67th. I am still planning this as my route to getting some free-roll money on FTP so I can play the real-money Razz games without having to deposit (I have an aversion to depositing money if you are wondering, lol). Carbon Poker is the only other site I have found that hosts Razz. If anyone knows of any others then please let us know.

Yeah baby Played in the Razz free-roll qualifier on pokerstars the other day, 5200 entrants and made it to the top 24 to qualify. My prize? Er, I get to play in another free-roll! great. This took over 6 hours during which time I went to the store to pick up some groceries, cooked dinner for the family and walked the dog twice. Still trying to place on FT so I can start a bankroll there. It looks like a decent site to play and I would have deposited by now but my money is with moneybookers.com which they don't accept. Seriously, is Razz a distraction for most of you or are there some of you who only play this game? Is there a Razz WSOP up for grabs?! lol

re: Razz poker It's my favorite game, by far. Yes, even though I murdered my online roll playing stupid at the cash tables. Razz is the carrot I'm dangling to get me through all the NLHE I'll have to get through to rebuild my roll.

Unlucky? Btw, I reject the assumption that you are lucky at razz if unlucky at poker. What kind of logic is that? I greatly enjoy varying games, hence I am loving my latest discovery, Horse. Now THAT's poker. I seriously need to work on my Omaha though cos that is one game i seriously suck at.

Placed at last Finally beat the bubble, just, and finished 23rd on the FTP Razz free-roll. $2, so I get 2 shots at the $1 Razz to try and make a BR here. thats two top 25 finishes in the tournaments I played this week out of 2400 and 5200. I maybe kissing holdem goodbye.

razz is one of the best games out there. other than the split games because most people will chase too much just to split. but razz basically you play according to your opponents hand, generally you play three cards lower than an 8 but that depends on what is on the board, if there are a lot of low cards out there you can change your starting hands accordingly. basically just play your hand to what your opponent has. if you can beat him(them) on that street. bet. it's that simple

Beardy I disagree. You can love Razz and hate it at the same time. And if you don't, then you don't really love Razz. Over and over I'm yelling at the computer saying "Freakin Razz" or "unbelievable, unfreakinbelievable." But Razz allows you to put your power of observation to better use as you not only see your opponents cards, you see a lot of showdowns and what they played with and how they played. And you can figure out where you stand fairly easily, or if your opponent is bluffing. If you've placed in a FT freeroll, good for you. But remember it's just a freeroll and most people are beginners. Don't take it to heart, but take that money you won and run with it.

I remember once accidentally played a razz tourney on FTP and I was on fire, i think the worst hand I showed down was the best 7 low possible. I remember thinking it was awesome but in reality I was just getting the cards. I ended up going bust 3 way with the second best 6 low, busted by a better 6 low - GUTTED!
