Raising Preflop in PLO hi/lo

So I've been trying the hard knock's school of PLO hi/lo, I have read the guides on here and some other stuff in (mostly) beginner's books, but I haven't found anything that particularly satisfies me on how/when to raise pre flop. I have been playing .05/.1 on fulltilt in the evenings, and I have been able to make some observations off of what I have seen unfold at the tables, but I am not sure how to use this or if it is even worth a damn:
1. going all in preflop seems to be bad juju, mostly because it always seems to end in a split pot with one other person and both have less than they started with due to rake, which leads to point two.
2. you either have to have more than one person call you, or you have to be able to make everyone fold, which doesn't happen at this limit, due to again the rake, unless you are 100% positive that you are going to be able to scoop the pot.
3. (it seems like) most people will play any four cards, even trips or quads.

So, how/when do you raise preflop? How much do you raise? If I am sitting in bb with something like JJA2 am I stupid for checking to draw more action when I hit the flop, or should I try to end the hand right there. What about the same hand UTG?
Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated, I know that someone here has been playing omaha for more than a few weeks and can help me out.

i think in a game like plo hi/lo it is best to raise whhen u feel u have the best hand to avoid beats as u and i know that if u play hands soft in omaha period it always bites u in ur azz unless u have some extreme hi hand like ace hi flush with no pairs or str8 flushes on board os quads or soemthing of that nature NEVER CHECK BEST HAND TRUST ME

JJA2 is a decent hand, but hardly a powerhouse (since you don't mention it, I'm assuming that the A is not suited). It's not likely to be the best hand. To start, it's something like 35% that at ten handed game someone else also has an A2. Unless your A is suited, I wouldn't raise.

You can't "end the hand right there" preflop. This is Omaha, not Holdem. Most people having already limped in, will call to see the flop. If you raise there it's either to build up a pot or to possibly get marignal hands to fold.

If you're looking for a book, I highly recommend Mike Cappelletti's "How to Win at Omaha High-Low Poker"

I've never been a fan of preflop raising in Omaha h/l, regardless of what you hold. Nothing you could possibly have is of any real value unless you improve, and there are way too many variables to overvalue anything you get in the hole. Actually, one gapper high straight cards, AQ for instance, I consider more desirable than big pocket pairs, and I play 2 suited pockets even if they look "marginal".
