I think you have to mix it up. I've been winning often at the low limits SnGs but the profit isn't that big, so with the little profit i make there i play MTTs but then i lose in there, so even though I'm balanced, I haven't been able to move up by much recently. Although I think if I was playing a bit more often it would work better, but I'm playing a max of 3 games per day. And yes, find a game where you feel comfortable enough and then try to play as much as you can in that game. Good luck.

re: Question: Making Profit poker Pretty much what quads says - as you play more hands and more games, if you keep good records it should be apparent what your most profitable games are. It's different for everyone. The lowest (ie: $1 SnGs) level tournaments at Full Tilt do have one quirk though: they charge 25% rake, which is higher than the bigger buy-in tournaments and probably their ring games as well (don't play them so don't know for sure). The high rake does make it harder to turn a profit at that level, so ring games might be a better option if that's the level you're looking at. Once you get to around $3 tournaments, it evens back out to the more normal / reasonable 10% rake.

BUT a decent sample size is needed, i would say around 10k for each type of ring ie 10k full ring NLHE, 10k 6max PLO, around 1000 tournaments of same structure ie 1000 $11 9max SNG etc. If you really want to do it properly i would suggest getting PT or some othe tracking software to track results. Once you have done a large enough sample for all the games you find interesting simply go through and look at which game(s) you have the highest win rate at. |

honestly i think the best way to make money is to play different games. i'm guessing you play mainly hold'em and if so then play other games. cause holdem is more of a game where you have to be right pretty much all of the time because at best in most hands you are only a 3 1/2 to 1 favorite. if you play stud hi and razz then you are like 6-1 or 9-1 at times. it is much easier to make profit in those games than in holdem. but most of the holdem profits seem to come from big wins in MTT

re: Question: Making Profit poker Yes I do play mainly Hold 'Em but my favorite/best games are Stud Hi/Lo and HORSE, but the problem is that not too many people play those so it's harder to find a consistent amount of players to play with, especially in HORSE
