A/Q Question??? Ok so I found quiz on another forum board and was curious to everyones output on it. The question was as follows. It's the first round in a pretty large mtt tourney(with 5,000),your utg+1,and look down at A/Q os. should you fold/call/or raise to 75. Well I like 78% of the other people said raise. I suppose the right answer was to fold it. Just curious what everyobe thought of this. Personally I would never fold it preflop early in a tourney, maybe after a huge reraise, but preflop early position. I would say test the waters and try to see where i'm at. Also it didn't mention if it was a live or online game.

If the action on the table has been that someone is constantly raising, limping should be considered if maniac is susceptible. If he raises no matter what, limp. Tight table, raise 2-3 bets in that position. Quality hands should be raised, but table dynamics can be used to add deception to hand's potential. Hope it gets hit on the flop!

the way i read the question you are utg +1 in early round of a huge tournament. with no read on anyone at the table at all as of yet. i would just muck it and play on doesn't cost me a cent, let the donks and maniacs show themselves first. AQ is a good hand to lose alot of money with from early position.

re: A/Q Question??? poker Yeah, I remember the question well. I said raise, and I'm usually pretty tight. But to not at least call I thought was borderline insane. Get a feel for the table? Let the table get a feel for you. How does anyone make a first impression?

I would probably raise most of the time. The hand is likely to be the best hand so far and you would like to see the flop with a few opponents in the hand. Limping on the other hand is also quite a good option, but you have to figure out where you stand against multiple opponents post flop. You could definately win more by limping as you might be able to punish dominated hands that a player holds onto for too long. Maybe limp 10% raise 90%...
