Q high flush...?

Go! Points tournament on Jetset. Q7s on my hand. Flop delivers another 2 spades for a possible flush. One opponent raises, rest folds, i call. Nothing hard yet.

Turn brings the last spade needed for my flush. 3 spades on the table now and nothing above T on the table. Opponent goes in for max. (limit game, he bets 1k leaving himself with 40 chips).

I fold. Was that a good call?? I had 3k chips, so could have lost and still have 2k. I'm thinking (hindsight wisdom) that i was too tight.

Any thoughts??

You have to call here. It's highly unlikely he has Ax or Kxs. Its very possible he might have a small set, a straight, or a big pai with a flush draw. Worse case scenario you still have to 2k+ in chips which should bode over well for awhile.

I would have called, personally. I think this is one of those rare hands that there really isn't a right or wrong, just depends on your style of play.

I'd have called. It's likely that he may have a lower flush or may be even bluffing.

Folding may not be WRONG, though. Probably a personal preference.

YOU FOLD>>> you made the correct play dont let these chasers and noobs tell you any diffferent. In fact, the only thing you did wrong was play Q 7 and i dont care if it was sooooted.

say you call and your opponent has top pair with the As and the turn brings you the flush. okay, what do you do now? he has "NUT" flush draw and top pair..he probably will call anything you bet. So, you check your flush and he goes all in? what do you do now? if you fold, you lost another bet that you coulda saved and if you call you need to dodge another spade....seems to me most of the idiots that woulda called, but the real poker players FOLD.

I agree with bpaz in that you shouldn't have been folding Q7 suited, what were you hoping to hit with it?

Trips while going to be a good hand isn't very likely and its hard to hide it, the other option is the flush, which you made but then folded it. :/

If you weren't going to call with the Q high flush you have to question why you played it in the first place. Depending on your read of the other guy I would have probably called it. He is either going to have a lower flush, high pocket pair or a set, all of which you beat.

Your only behind to Ax and Kx suited, will only lose if you call if he has either the A or the K and a 4th suit comes, or if he has a set and the board pairs. You also didn't mention the size of the pot either at this point, so its all a bit sketchy.

I'm concluding it was a severely bad play on my part. Should have called it, no doubt. Either that or stayed away. Dammit!
