| PTR stats? How useful are these? I use PT3 which I totally dig but am just curious. TR says I am tighter than 75% of other players and more aggressive than 90%. Any substance to these? Should I take them into account when plugging leaks? |

| If you use PT3 I wouldn't even bother looking at your PTR.... Rather than looking at PTR and seeing what you're doing different to everyone else, go through PT3 and see where you are losing the most money. Plug those leaks before you worry about what anyone else is doing. |

| According to my Hud on FTP you are 30.3/18.9/2.79 ideally you need to decrease VP$IP to 20, your PFR to 8 and AF to 2, this will enable you to tighten up your game and take part in pots with a greater winning chance. My major fault is overrating my chances in a pot, since tightening my game I'm losing less often in tight hands. |

As far as listening to PTR - there really is no point. PTR just finds the players with the highest winrate at your level and tries to compare your stats to theirs. It doesn't necessarily mean that is the perfect way to play. If you're tighter than 75% of players, then it is expected you will be more aggressive than 75% of players as well. Tight players often have a high AF, because when they play a hand they are usually a pre-flop favorite and thus are expected to be aggressive. |

| re: PTR stats? poker "2 is not bad for an AF but I usually like to get up to about 2.5 or so. I guess it just depends on your playstyle." Agree Wes with around 2.5, I was well over 3, misjudging the flop and turn aggression N/L micro, reigning back to 2 meant less losing pots. I've found ring HE NL micro very tough to beat. Have switched to limit stud H/L and doing a lot better. Still playing Tournament HE and will build my AF back to 2.5, thanks for putting me right Last edited by okeedokalee : 17th May 2010 at 6:05 AM. Reason: quote marks |

| PTR will tell you how various areas compare to the average stats for the top winning players at your level. It will not tell you how you stack up if you intentionally play LAG or nit styles since more players strive toward TAG styles. If you are truly playing a nit style, then you should be more aggressive than your opponents because you're only playing with premium hands. But tighter than 75% doesn't necessarily mean that you are a nit; most players at the lower levels play waaay too loose. At various points PTR lists the top winners at various levels. Search that out for your level and compare the styles of the winners. See if you can find one that plays similarly preflop to you, and then compare the rest of your ratings to his alone. Maybe also look for someone one level higher who plays a similar game to yours for comparison. And, 20/8 is not optimal. Standard ratio should be in the 3/2 or 4/3 range, or tighter. If your VPIP is 20, then PFR should be 14-15+. If you play 30, then PFR should be 20-22+. Looking the other way, if you only raise 8%, then at most you should be only playing 12%. |

If you have some postflop game, then you can play a lot of different ways preflop versus weak competition and do just fine. Last edited by Mase31683 : 22nd May 2010 at 2:27 PM. |
