pre-flop stacking in micro stakes It's a curiosity for me, probably brought on by some bad luck in my last session. I want to know, in general, what hands you think are profitable to stack off with preflop in the micro limits. I'm currently playing 10NL, but I figure this is probably somewhat consistent through 50NL or so. Obviously AA/KK are great to get it in pre-flop, a wider range can be shoved due to fold equity. I'm more curious which hands you're willing to call a shove with after you 3 or 4bet. Ex. I 3-bet a tight MP1 raiser from MP3 with QQ and he 4bet shoves. Is this a spot to call or fold? (not too much known on villain except generally tight tendencies over about 30 hands).

This is entirely read dependent. Some people will say at the microstakes you can loosen up quite a bit in this situation, but I say don't loosen up *until* you've seen something that says the player is an idiot (which will happen pretty often). Otherwise, QQ+ is probably fine.

I am not smart enough to fold QQ at micro stakes. I used to be able to, but anymore I just call and reload if I have too. Enough people seem to make that third or fourth bet shove with AK, JJ, TT, or worse that it has turned out to be profitable for me to call in the long run. Sometimes you see AA or KK against you, but play it 100 times and the evidence I've seen is that you will be ahead significantly (at least at FTP). Good luck!

re: pre-flop stacking in micro stakes poker QQ+/AK works fine at 2nl-25nl, if you're the guy shoving (you have fold equity). That range works against anything but a huge fish or nit. Against any other player type getting JJ in is a mistake the same as folding AK or QQ is a mistake. Against a huge nit then you wont have to think about throwing away QQ and AK when he 3bets or 4bets. Against a fish you may be able to stack really wide and have it be +EV. If you're calling against someone with a tight 3bet/4bet range, it depends on what odds you're getting. Do some work with pokerstove with your ranges vs AA/KK and figure out what odds you need to be getting to stack even when his range is nuts or bigger nuts.

re: pre-flop stacking in micro stakes poker I would say its definately player read / stack size dependent. If he's an idiot, full stacked or not, then fine shove 'em all in no worries. But if he's only playing very few hands, and has only shown down very good cards, then be cautious - it may be a fold. Yes, it hurts to fold the ladies in that spot (and you'll normally run out of time because your hovering over the 'fold' and 'call' buttons at the same time, not daring to press either!) and i know he could have AKs here or JJ but if you call and he shows KK AA your now kicking yourself and hovering over the reload button instead. A 4-bet shove from a tight player in MP1 and you gotta be careful - try to ask yourself 'what would I4bet shove with there' AA? KK? maybe the other QQ? definately. AKs 'maybe', AKo JJ TT AQs/o surely not. The problem is doing all that in 15 seconds ! At the end of the day, its just one hand in thousands and you can wait to get your money in against a weaker player. Protect your investment (stack). Hell, move seats if you have to, or find another table - there's plenty out there. Truffle.

before i had ptr 3 i used to go all in preflop with AA, KK, QQ and AK, now base on the player stats i might even call with 1010, JJ, AQ maybe. heck i even shoved poket 9s today vs a dude who was playing 76% of his hands, and i won!
