Pokerstars Sunday million
I`am playing in the sunday million on pokerstars this sunday, I`ve played at least 6 times in the past and cashed twice. I feel like I`am ready to play, but it`s a tough field. I have seen some really bad beats and was just wondering if anyone out there had any advice they could give me on a solid strategy for this tourny.

Half in jest, missing the first half hour seldom causes problems.
 In large field tourneys, it is that first half hour that is the trickiest time. The only significant thing you might miss is the tempo of the tables, that something 'other' that we usually notice but no one has yet put their finger on. With the WSOP just around the corner, there may be a panic by many. Not sure how that will relate to the actual tourney play, but I'm fairly sure it will. BTW I have not yet played the mil, but have done the 100K several times. So take my comments with that caveat. |

The million and the 100K are vastly different DJ, the 100K plays almost like a turbo.
The Sunday million is a very deep stacked event for at least the first hour, and most of the second hour. Set mining is extremly profitable if done correctly, as is calling small raises with suited connectors, because a lot of the players fail to realise when they are beat. Last week a guy open shoved QQ in one of the first hands, AKs and JJ decided to call. But just play your big hands aggressively and youll be fine. |

ive played in the sunday million excatly 18 times, and ive cashed 6 times, including a 4k score for finishing 24th, but anyways its a very deep stacked tournament to start, and the later stages are similar to any of the other PS tournies, a little more deep stacked, but not really. anyways for the first hour, hour n half, you need to be playing TIIIIIGHT... play your small pairs if the price is right, its a great way to build chips... 22 - QQ should be played the same... dont get involved too much preflop, and dont push all of your chips in after the flop with just 1 pair. obviously you might play QQ a little different vs smaller stacks or a hyper aggressive player, but for the most part if the chip stacks are even, you want to play 22-qq the same for the first few levels (in my opinion) once you get to the bigger blinds and antes, you switch from your really tight style, and start opening up a lot of pots, try to build a big stack and when the bubble comes around abuse the hell out of it, a lot of the players in the tourny are either A - playing outside there bankroll, or B - qualified via satellite and instead of cashing out are taking a chance... not all of them but a good bit are, ull make a lot of players fold hands like J J Q Q , maybe even KK when its close to the money, and once the bubble is over, hopefully uve built yourself for a big stack, and u just dominate :P |
