| PokerRazor Analysis: 3 flush board Chuck has been doing some PokerRazor work, and I thought I'd use it from a different approach. I want to create some flops, put my opponent on a range, and see how various hands that I might hold stand up against that range. So I've taken a 3 flush board, K93, all one suit. Opponent is given a range of top 10% of hands less AA/KK just because I'm assuming that I've raised and he's called so I'm assuming that he'll 3 bet AA/KK at least. So we're up against QQ-77, AJ+, ATs-A9s, KQ, KJs-KTs, QTs+ If we don't change the board or the opponent's holdings, he has a flush 2.2% of the time, TP 28.3%, underpair 28.3, and "weak flush draw" 24.4% and nut flush draw 7.8%, which I'm assuming means some kind of flush draw 31.2% of the time. Holdings / Best hand / Equity AcAh / 94.1 / 89.4 AcAs / 90.5 / 68.4 KK / 94.4 / 84.2 QcQs / 63.2 / 49.4 JcJs / 54.8 / 42.8 TsTc / 51.2 / 39.1 AsKs / 92.0 / 68.7 KsQs / 82.0 / 61.0 KsQh / 85.4 / 79.7 AhTc / 7.6 / 46.7 If we hold a heart, the chance that we have the best hand goes up, as does our equity. By comparison to Chuck's analysis, this is pretty simple, but this is the first time I've had time to work with it. I'm on holiday but the internet connection dies every 10 minutes so I can't play poker so I thought this would be a good time to start to fool around with this program. This scenario is pretty basic, but I guess it's useful for trying to dispel the fear of flushes when you have a hand, assuming PFR that narrows the range and number of opponents. |

| Good stuff NL. I think his preflop range is pretty inaccurate from a realistic point of view though - players almost always 3 bet QQ or AK for example. I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes with the results, but I bet it's significant. This is all stuff that could be done in pokerstove - ie finding out if we're a favourite over that range if we hold different starting hands. That is, everything but the breakdown of his range, which is this program's specialty. Just another note - the 'best hand' stat is something I don't think can really be applied in any circumstance. Having the best hand doesn't matter (except on the river), but our equity does. So don't let that stat fool you. Pretty surprising how infrequently he has a flush draw. |
