Last summer, I had 3k on
Bodog (built up from freerolls, never deposited) and decided to take a shot at triyng to make a living from poker. I had a college research job for 8hours/day, but I decided to spend 6 hours a night playing 8-12 tournaments. I made about 1k/week for 5 weeks before giving up. Multi-tabling 6 hours a day is a terrible grind, and I applaud all who are able to consistently do so. After a while, you start to hate the monotony of playing tournaments over and over again. Now, I play cash games, satellites to live tourneys, etc. The bottom line- unless you strike it rich in the Sunday Mill or some other big tourney that's partly a lottery, playing tournament poker for a living can be very monotonous.
