If you get fish hooks what would you do. With 3 over cards I dont like them much for a raise.I use them as a middle pair and try for a cheap flop. Then go for trips.
What do you do and why. |

Treat them like I would any other normal top 10 pre flop hand, raise of course pre-flop, check to see what the board brings if anybody has called my pre-flop raise. Normally do a continuation bet, hopefully taking it down right there.
Not to mention any reads I may or may not have on my opponent(s) The go from there.. |

It depends on the situation, but if I am first to the pot I am definately raising (from any position) to help drive out any weak aces, kings, or queens and narrow the playing field. After that, it is a matter of what everyone else seems to be doing and what the board looks like.

Depends how lucky i feel and How Many Chips i have, if i get in cheap and 2 overcards fall they go in the muck, also depends on my position at that moment and how many limped in.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> buck

Pocket Jacks are the kind of hand you raise with, not the kind of hand to showdown and win with, much like A, K. Be aggressive with them, even if there is an overcard on the flop. When players are not backing down, check/fold.

So much depends on the situation. Earlier today I folded them preflop when a player to my right, who I knew to be tight, came in for 5 BBs. Sure enough, he turned out to have pocket Kings, and the guy who called wound up losing half his stack.
If it had come round to me unraised, I`d have probably raised myself, because this table was pretty passive and I`d have had a reasonable chance of buying the pot with a continuation bet even if I missed the flop. At a more aggressive table, I`d limp in hoping to hit a set. At this kind of table, a hidden hand like that can be gold dust because there will often be another player who will bet it for you and help you clean up. |

Why such a big push preflop with AQs so early in the SnG, Brutus ? Surely you don`t need to take that kind of risk.
I would think it would have been enough to call. Then, when the flop came you`d have had top pair and a straight draw, which is pretty strong, but there`d have been the flush threat against you and, depending how the betting went, you`d have maybe bailed out and kept enough chips to still have some prospects. |

honestly i dont know what i was thinking. most any other time i wouldve just called the raise and waited for the flop, why i didnt do it this time i couldnt tell ya. when the flop came i woulda had a tough decision to make, but if one of em would have pushed post flop i woulda figured on one of em possibly hitting the flush or two pair and more than likely bailed.

Raise or reraise with jacks to represent that you have a big hand. After the flop it would depend on the players in the hand with me. Hopefully my raise scared off most of the players and Im up against 2-3 other players. If an overcard hits the board, I wouldnt fear it immediately-I would determine if an any of my opponents could be holding that particular card.
I play a lot more brick and mortar poker though.. Online: if its one over, I'll bet out and see where Im at. If its 2 or more, I'll give some credit for having me beat and hopefully just check it down. |
