Pocket Aces and Kings failing me I was trying out .02/.04 and playing pretty tight and lost the most with pocket aces. I raise with pocket aces and the BB calls me. The flop comes QQ4 and he had the queen and I lost like 20% of my stack or maybe more. The next time I have pocket kings and raise. BB calls and he has A-4 and flops an ace.

Im assuming this is limit (dont think theres a .2/.4 NL game around)? So he cant shove PF. Just keep playing these hands strong, eventually things will even themselves out. But do be wary Kings arent invicable and you should look at them as second pair if a ace falls and someones playing aggressive

re: Pocket Aces and Kings failing me poker yeah, what buck said. If I was playing for 2 and 4 cents, i'd be calling all day hoping to hit. I've been losing with AA and KK all day in $3 SnG's at PokerStars.

I think we all have to learn through the loss and win of pocket As. Sometimes they rock and sometimes they mislead. Play 'em like you would any other pair, raise to the flop without going crazy and then see what comes out. Use common sense and don't lose your shirt. |

All i know is when i play Aces or Kings i tend to forget that they can still be vulnerable.... While they are a great hand... in the lower limit games you have people calling bets that are 10 times the big blind because its only a dollar or less... when playing those games you need to be more cautious and know that they can be defeated... trust me i have lost quite a bit of money making dumb raises because you feel they are invincible... but as long as you play them right you can win most of the time with them...

I think thats why they call it gambling. You don't always win. AA against any two random cards is probably only about 5 to 1 favorite which means you will lose 1 time in six. Overall though you will come out ahead as you win 5 times. Just spitballing the numbers but you know what I mean.

Whatd you raise when you had the kings? and whatd you do after the flop? I would suggest firing a continuation bet on the flop, but if he insta calls or reraises, I would say give him command of the board and consider folding to a raise... although he should have folded! in the long run, it will pay off to have people calling your big pocket pair
