Pocket 10's on button Last night I was playing the Ladbrokes ladders SnG tourny when I got dealt 10's on the button. No particular reads at the table as it was only the 2nd level but something struck me as to a few plays I could make with position. Only UTG folded and the 6 players in front all limped in. I'm thinking here, whats my play? I know 10's aren't a powerhouse multi-way, unless I improve. I came across (in my 15 seconds, ) 2 different possibilites of play. Do I - A) Raise around the pot size and hope to take the pot down there and then (pot was around 200 chips + on 2nd level). or B) Limp in to hit the set, and hope some of the limpers give me action. I'm also hoping to see massive pot odds to draw to the turn card at least. I took my time on my decision and am interested on hearing what your particular play is and why.......

You want to get the pot heads-up or at the most 3-handed if you raise. You will have to commit quite a few chips in order for that to happen and you'll have to do so with a hand that is not a huge favorite to win at this point. I would just limp and play for the set. You have position and a lot of limpers, so you can make maximum damage to them if you hit the flop right. I don't feel that the risk vs. reward in making a big raise here is justified.

re: Pocket 10's on button poker yeh we would need stack sizes and blinds, and your table image is important too. If you've been playing in a fair amount of pots, it'll be pretty tough to isolate, also if your table has been generally loose than the same thing applies. Keep this in mind: there are going to be overcards %70 of the time...

Nothing much had happened in the 1st few level, all stacks were between 1250-1750, mostly just pre-flop raises and folds, hence no reads. I had only played one pot previously, raised 4x the big blind with AKo in the previous orbit with late position & had one mp caller, folded to a flop raise on board 9-Q-J.
