Is PLO the game where luck counts most preflop?
Hi all.
I am familiar with most forms or poker, and I wonder what u guys think about my statement above? Getting your chips in with almost any hand in PLO must give u an almost 50/50 shot heads up. Unlike say, NLHE, where an AA crushes any other hand preflop. Comments all??? |

If anything I think you'd want to say "post flop". The equities run so close typically pre, that the flop is where the biggest decisions usually take place.
If I think a PFR or even a 3 bet is AA, I'll often call with any 4 connected type hands, just to out flop aces. My 689Tss isn't that bigg a dog to naked AAxx, or even a good AAxx hand. So no. I don't think preflop luck is part of it. |

Im not by any means a big PLO player but I have been runnning some tables lately. And I would probably agree that not many hand have other hands dominated like NLE. BUt I think the hand sthat do have the edge are like two suited hands and ones with numebr combos that would make it easier to hit straights rather than AA or KK etc.
But again ... Just my $0.2¢ |

That's why Omaha is almost always played as pot limit rather than no limit. True big draws and made hands will often both me right in getting all in on the flop, a lot more often than in NLH. But there's a lot of intricate and skillful play post-flop through 3 streets when the money is deeper.

If I have AAKK double suited and you want to bet me till we're all in I will be more than happy to oblige. Don't forget even 72 can flop 772.
I tend to think that getting all in pre flop is always more luck than skill. I avoid these situations if possible. Much better to see a flop cheap either way. I am not against three betting or even getting all in. But I feel better doing it with AKQ10 than I do 26JK |
