Playing TPTK in a one suited flop

Ok, this has been happening a lot to me lately. Playing a very loose, fishy 10NL 6 max. I raise preflop, on the button with a hand like AQo. I get 3-4 calllers (yes, that loose and fishy) Flop comes Q high, all the same suit - I am not holding any of the suit. Checks around to me...at this point I typically will make the standard 3/4 pot sized bet. Is this a mistake? Am I betting for value here? Or am I betting to make strong flush draws fold? If I'm trying to make a strong flush draw fold, is over betting the pot the right play?

Check folding is worse than cbetting 3/4 the flop, so keep cbetting... You won't get raised often even if someone has flopped a flush. They will most likely check to you on the turn again.

I'd recommend to check the turn if you got any callers no matter what's the card and only call river if the bet is not big and there's no 4th card of the same suit on the board.

My dilemma here seems to be that when I bet it 2 things happen:

1. worse hands fold

2. better hands call

So how is betting here +EV?

With that many callers your bound to be behind, someone will have at least one card to complete the flush, and they sure as wont fold it if they are a fish.

Generally if it's checked around to me I'll check as well and fold to any bets. I just dont see how it can be played in a +EV by betting and hoping to take it down with your top pair by representing the A/K high flush...big hand big pot, small hand small pot, and Q high on a flush board is not a big hand.

I'ld just save my blinds for a better spot.

Im sure more times than any a draw will always call, I don't see many fish folding an A or K flush draw here or a Q or J. Even good players will call if not raise you on these boards with there draws, sets, 2 pair.

If you bet and and win the pot there and then whats the problem? why isn't betting here EV+. Why would you give anyone a free card to draw out on you?. Why would you check back the turn when the draw now has even less Equity against you? A free river card? i think not.

They are definitley tough boards but you need to be the aggressor with your hand unless your reads tell you something else.

I think its around 500.1 to flop a flush so your mostly ahead of the draws in which i would jam TPTK to any raise. Sure they might have a set or 2 pair put mostly they'll raise you with there draws.

You can't find out if your pair is the best hand if you don't bet. If you check and then someone bets on the turn - What are you going to do ?

Worse hands can bluff you out of the pot on such board if you check. You don't want that right ? Then show some strength and bet to show that you are not afraid of the board.

c-bet fairly large 2/3 3/4 is good. You want those high suited cards to fold or pay a price. It's very unlikely someone flopped a flush though it does happen. It's quite likely someone has a flush draw (almost certian with that many callers really).

On the turn if it bricks, you can bet again, if you get raised then re-evaluate the situation. If they're fishies, they will pay to draw so don't get too paranoid.

Concur with other comments here.....You have position, you raised, you got a piece of the flop, and you want to keep the lead. Yes, C-bet then re-evaluate the turn.

I like to check in this spot and see the turn.

If there's no 4th suit card on the turn, I like to bet half the pot.

More often than not, the fourth card of the suit probably won't show up on the turn/river so you're still getting +EV by cbetting i think. plus you're building the pot in case the fish do brick the river.

Yes, of course it is. The more I think about it, the more silly I think my question was. I have been betting it every time with steady success.

Given that there are three hearts on the flop the chances that an opponent has another two to make a flush are about 4% per opponent; so with three other players there is a 12% chance of running into a flush. The chance of there being at least one heart in one of your opponents' hands (and hence there being a flush draw) is about 78% for 3 opponents and 88% for 4.

Thanks for clearing that up...I was just thinking of this same exact response tonight, when I kept on running into people flopping flushes, lol....I was like, "there's no way that the odds against are that high". You answered my questions/doubts.
