Playing at short handed tables

I read an article recently about how to play at short handed tables vs. full. For one thing, you simply can't sit there and wait for a good hand. As the article explains:
"When you're playing short-handed. you are forced to play more hands since each one you throw away will actually cost you more money. Let's say you're sitting in a 10-handed Hold'em game with $5-$10 blinds. One round circling the table would cost you $15 total if you didn't play a hand. That's an average of $1.50 per hand ($15 divided by 10 hands), which doesn't seem too bad. But look at what happens when you cut the number of players from 10 to five."
Starting hands also change value preflop at a short handed table. You need to be more agressive than at a full table. Short handed tables are a battle for the antes because there is more pressure due to the blinds coming to you more quickly than at a full table.
The article concludes with this:
"It's high-stress, high-energy poker, which forces you to make complex decisions with much weaker hands. Frankly, short-handed games are where stronger players thrive while weaker opponents simply get pushed around."

Absolutely correct about the first part.

I would say the aggressor as much as stronger. You are not going to have top pair and still play beyond the flop and outplay your opponent.
Reraises work very well shorthanded because people are more likely to play weaker starting hands and have kicker problems etc.

I love short-handed games! When joining cash games, I always look for the 5-6 player max tables. I always do so much better on them (it appeals to my aggressive style of play). Not to mention, there is a lot more action. I generally don't have the time (or patience ) for a full 10-player table.
