playing KQ suited

This came up in a tournament I was in yesterday. I have a history of donking off my lead by playing good hands that get beat. Yesterday I had KQ of clubs in the cut off and was planning to raise when it got to me . Blinds were 100-200. I was 63rd out of 78. Then someone ahead of me raised to 700. Reraise? call? or fold? As it turned out I folded. What would have been the correct thing to do?
Incidently, I went on to take 1st, but that should have no bearing on this question. That was sheer luck cause I suk as a player!
thanks for any help you all can offer.

I would just call, maybe even fold to the raise. I found out a long time ago that K, Q is not as good a hand as you think it is.

Luck? In poker? Get out of here!

Need more information.

Like, your stack size, his stack size, the average stack size, his playing style (does he steal a lot, or has he always shown down decent hands), where you get in the money, and if you're already in the money where the next significant step up is.

The cards you hold are not always the biggest consideration. If you read Harrington on Holdem for tournaments he talks about situations that you should fold almost everything, and others where you should be shoving with any two cards.

KQ is a decent hand but will lose to Ace high when the board misses. Worth a shove when you're short stack, worth a raise, especially from later position when you have sufficient chips, but generally, it depends.

If you were 63 out of 78, you probably were in a push-or-fold situation. If you had a read that this player steals a lot of blinds, it might be worth a push, but I'd fold this one and wait for something better.

Limping and calling raises when your stack is too short is a surefire way to get busted.
